Went into the office today for a typical 8 hour workday at 199 miles and 64%. Came back out to 201 miles and 65%. Parked in a underground parking garage. No kWh usage. 🤷‍♂️
Wow. Nice! I parked outside for 10 hours and lost 0.5 kWh.

Meanwhile my R1T was sipping 1.5kWh over 23h15m. Interestingly, the trip meter shows the duration as 3 min? So, what the hell? Is sleep mode even real?

If the truck can “see” your FOB or PaaK the drain is higher. Early on, the “seeing” distance was far. I could be in my house, and these items far from the truck, and yet the truck connected to them. I think Rivian adjusted that via a recent update. My solution was just to plug it in every night and always leave with my preset “full tank” when I the house.
@uthatch And just announced in the 2023.10.0 release, more improvements for this cause of Vampira drain!

You talking about this?
  • Improved range loss when a phone key is near the vehicle for long periods of time
I live 6 floors above my R1T in an all-concrete apartment building. Unless my R1T is being bombarded with bluetooth connections or something else in my parkade, I doubt this will help my situation. :/

Brand new owner here. I knew that vampire drain was a thing, but man does it suck (pun really not intended). Much more than expected and really sad for an energy miser like me. I got this truck because it is supposed to be the most efficient option for someone that needs a truck.

So I'm running a 24 hour experiment. I turned off everything I could other than location info (that will be next) and bluetooth since I kinda need that if I want the phone as key. Open to trying that next too.

Will report back if I find anything significant.

If the glass heater is staying on all the time, then passenger side fuse F63 or F65 could be the circuit controlling that. Certainly a heating element would consume 50wh and is the most likely source so far. I'm guessing there's a simple temperature sensor in there and it runs oblivious to the car being used.

The cell radio should only be using milliamps but then we don't know what else is running...

If its above 70 degrees, I have zero drain (mileage wise) during the day even with Gear Guard and Paak enabled.

I believe F65 (Heated Wiper Park) is used for a small strip where the wiper blades 'park' to prevent them from icing up. Not particularly unuseful but shouldn't be on all the time for sure. F63 might be the auto dimming feature of the rearview mirror?

Seems like there is a constant 50W source and it looks like its on the windshield by the rear view mirror. Not sure why there would be a heating element there?

I'm picking up a FLIR camera tonight from my dad. I'll have thermal proof afterwards. Stand by!

Didn't mean to steal your thunder, but I had mine handy. As you can see, the garage is around 35 or so and that camera wants to be heated to the upper 50s. This would line up with people having less vampire in warmer areas. This is with gear guard off.

Great shots! This more or less confirms it as far as I'm concerned.

Now to just identify which fuse is controlling that...

Every single one of us should be hassling our guides until they elevate this issue. We have proof. It should be an easy software fix. Not cool Rivian. Fix it now.
