Anybody set up a usb battery on this thing yet? My anker 737 can do like 15v at 3A (hoping it would adjust but may need something closer to 12), and charge when the truck's on, but i dont have my truck yet lol
This is more or less what I want to do. This guy used a jackery battery on his backseat.

What I want to try is find a similar battery that can fit under the rear seats in that cubby, then run 2 wires, one to battery tender on OBD, and one nema plug to the rear 120V so the rivian can charge the battery while driving.

Set rivian's outlets to be Auto (on while driving), and try to find a way to charge it off L2 when charging HV battery.

I might be off my rocker though.

Looks like the solar charger noted is also a battery tender. So why do you need the OBD connecter and a tender if you plug it into the 12v cig outlet?
As SteveEV said most 12v connections turn off when the vehicle sleeps. The whole point of the tender is to let the vehicle sleep.

So the OBD is always on, obviously a direct connection to the batter is always on. Does anyone know of any other 12v place that are always hot? All of the 12v power sockets turn off, the trailer hitch turns off, the jumpers by the trailer hitch turn off.

So that tiny one would actually probably have enough power to skip one wake cycle since its about 50% the capacity of the stock 12v. AGM probably won't discharge past 50%. Insane Rivian put such a tiny 12v in these vehicles.

But yeah to leave it plugged in for days will need a larger pack. Although maybe not much larger - this might be enough for a number of days;

Actually I think a bunch of people had measured the kWh the R1 pulled over a number of days on just the 3amp tender? That would tell us exactly how big of a bank you need for 3-7 days.

I'm still very curious to know the long-term effects on using the OBD/Tender solution for us dual-battery R1Ts; If the second battery is neglected with this process or if it gets a top-up as well.

You want AGM mode, that's the 12v chemistry.

When viewing batteries look at the rear left corner(which is passenger side)

Dual batteries have all black wire.
Single with capacitor have red cap on that wire.

Yes, AGM as others have also noted. I just run mine through a slightly cracked open window, when garaged. Good luck over your 10 day trip, I'm curious for your results.

BTW do you know whether you have dual 12V batteries or a single battery?

Not sure I understood what you meant by "rest left corner", can you help elaborate a bit more? Any pictures may be helpful, as there are likely more folks here who'd like to know how tell dual vs single 12V.

Not sure it is entirely working, but I will monitor over a few days. Device is set to AGM 12V.

Parked at 264mi 90% at 5pm, plugged in the BT.

This morning I am at 261mi 88%

Tracking since 12:00am (now 9am)
