Truck is coming back a little later today. Apparently a rare software issue that triggered the drive unit/motor failure message. Unit and wiring were all okay. Next version of software is supposed to address it.
2nd time software has caused my truck to be towed in for service - early adopter woes.

Got in the truck this morning - no go. Christmas tree of lights and messages saying Motor Fault, Drive Unit, Truck Disabled call tow truck and maybe a few others that come and go.
Sleep cycle and reboot did nothing.
Feb 22 build
If we see more of these, we may have to order shirts

25-30 miles - at least it wasn't in the intersection or side of road like some folks

Agree, I'm not entirely sure what's worse at 3k miles software or hardware. I guess hardware since 3k miles isn't exactly a lot and any components should be rated to last years and miles beyond that.

At least it wasn't at a stop light and only 350 miles. It will be a 4 week fix for you.

I’m in this club as well, although mine was diagnosed based on a fluid leak from the rear drive unit and didn’t fail on me, but was replaced - around 4000 miles.

This is what I’m afraid of. Granted Brooklyn service center is only like 45 min from me but would hate for that to happen. The truck is amazing though and I’ll try and not think about the what ifs

Sucks. My earlyish Model S had the drive unit replaced twice. It's a bummer, but hopefully the new one will be good for many many miles.
