*UPDATE*EV Sportline center console lock box initial review.

Just met the UPS guy at my door to take delivery of my EV Sportline Center Console Lock Box (gun box). It was sent signature required which is nice and confusing at the same time. I was quite surprised how heavy this box actually is (6 pounds on the ups label). It is packaged very well, but leave it to UPS to defy the laws of physics and actually tear into the box causing an almost unnoticeable chip in the paint. I'll live.

With that said, I just have the unboxing photos, because we are in the middle of a socal heatwave and it is 108 degrees outside. I honestly planned on risking a possible heat stroke to try it out, but even the inside door knob was hot, so I axed that idea.

.Also, the slotted foam included is a very nice touch. It allows you to finely tune a protection surround for your protection and mags.

So tried it a few times in our 23 R1S and all seemed great. Was telling my neighbor about it and I took it over to try in his Gen 2 R1S that is currently running on 2024.35.xx. Worked great until we locked the doors and heard the center console lock actuate at the same time. Oof!! Unfortunately, the center console is stuck in the locked position now, so we cannot pull the box out.

Not sure if this is a specific to gen 2 wiring architecture, but the gen 2 software doesn't sense anything in the center console, so it isn't even trying to actuate the lock when the doors are u locked. Dock button doesn't work either, since nothing is technically in the console.

Hopefully we don't have to pull the center console out to remove the box.

I love the idea of these things but this is what scares me about them. Getting a 'stuck' one out will likely NOT be covered by Rivian and EXPENSIVE.

Thankfully this won't cost anything, but yeah, if you have to take it in, it will be expensive.

Hi All,

I also purchased the EV Sportline Center Console Lock Box. It's well-made but unfortunately it doesn't work for my needs. I'm planning returning it but wanted to offer it up to anyone is Southern California who might be interested. With shipping and Labor Day discounts I think I paid $115. I'm open to offers.
