I’ve worked in industrial process controls and automation for many years. When customers make requests like this I tell them “Just because we CAN automate something does not mean we SHOULD.”

Looks like either the post here or RivianTracker may have a formatting issue. On RivianTrackr, this is nested so that it only applies to Alexa commands, not to the UI in general.

Correct this only applies to the Alexa commands.

I can think of MANY reasons not to automate this even though it's technically possible. There have been many times that I drive past the house going to the grocery before heading home.

Right and it can be controlled by distance, open if Im 10-20 feet from garage... Etc

I use it on my Telsa and just have it set so it doesn't open unless I am pretty close to the garage. I can also easily cancel it as well.

I have it on my Tesla as well. It is very configurable, you can have auto open and/or auto close, also range for it to trigger.

Works great for me, would love to have that option available on the Rivian.

It is on our Model S, I have one place set to auto open but not auto close because we are usually parked in the driveway. I have the other place set to auto open and auto close because we park in the garage.

Also why can’t you auto send signals to gates and garages as you approach them? Why do you have to press a button? I thought be able to tiggl

I like the current setup and wouldn’t want to be forced into a location-based only setup. I think it makes a lot of sense to make this an option, but I also think Rivian needs to develop an address book/favorites list before trying to do any more location-based anything. I think we need a list which shows locations like the in navigation, but which can be sorted or ordered specifically and which allows us to specify what happens at specific locations: garage door opener behavior, height change, auto lock/unlock, charge scheduling & amperage, mirror folding, etc.
