You’re not going to become a successful YouTube influencer by giving us spoiler alerts. The trick is to bury your conclusion at approximately minute 93 of a 120 minute video.

And you have to make a funny screen capture where you are smiling like a lunatic or making a sad face while pointing at a Rivian.
The fact that people now feel the need to make their human faces mimic emoji is unsettling.

A friend of mine just did the update on his truck. We did some before and after launches in All Purpose, ride height low, stability control OFF.
0-60 was 4.5 seconds both times, before and after the update.
He is running a 2023 R1T Dual, 21" Michelin Defenders.

Sport Mode on, lowest suspension, stability off, we were consistently getting 3.6 seconds 0-60. If it were not a little windy that day, maybe we could get 0-60 in 3.5. It was pretty amazing. There was even some 4 wheel spin on pavement.

Jose from RivianTrackr posted the video we shot but didn't include the before/after All Purpose runs since the focus was how to do the upgrade. We used an iPhone app called GPS Race Timer (it's free) to measure the runs.

I think All Purpose is just about the same, although I had heard a theory that the throttle mapping 50 to 80 is steeper in All Purpose if you have the PDM but we did not test.

I just got my truck back from the service center today. I might do a few 50-80 runs to see how long it takes before I upgrade it to PDM.

You know what? You're right! Silly that Rivian even sells Dual motor. Nobody has expressed even a little interest since they were introduced. Nobody's bought them, either. Definitely not the highest volume selling variant of gen 2

After having my Dual Motor Performance Large R1T for over a year and just shy of 20K miles, I can say I've never used full send in any mode more than once or twice.

500+HP at full throttle is dizzyingly fast, 600+, 800+, 1000+ is faster, but OMG where are you folks flooring your Rivian to use this power. 1/2 throttle has me on the back end of the car in the distance in a second or two.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic at the beginning but I have a lot of referrals and most of them buy dual max or tri. Maybe 5 bought the dual standard no options

It's a heavy car. 500 hp is not a lot. It's the instant torque that makes it feel fast

500hp isn't a lot HUH? 3.5 second 0-60 is supercar territory regardless in a 7000lb truck.

This is what I was getting at. Dual motor is what most go for, because no, being able to afford a 70-90k vehicle doesn't mean you can (or want) to afford a 105k vehicle. If they did, nobody would be buying dual max

I think it's more about weight to power ratio for super cars. Like under 7 lb/hp Rivian is like 13+.
Dual is 4.5 perfect launch on a good day and it's slow after 60. It's the torque. Heavy cars do well with lots of torque.

Interestingly, Rivian just sent out an email claiming that 0-60 in All-Purpose mode is faster with the upgrade.

This is the first I’ve heard of this — makes me a bit more inclined to upgrade (Gen2 R1S DM Max).

It says to experience the performance upgrade you have to switch to sport mode.

Yes, but look at the text above the table. That’s the part that is new (to me) information. Everything I’ve heard before suggested that AP mode had identical performance between DM and PDM. But this email contradicts that:

Our Performance Upgrade energizes your daily driving in All-Purpose mode, boosting your 0-60 mph speed from 4.5 seconds to 4.1 seconds.

A friend of mine just did the update on his truck. We did some before and after launches in All Purpose, ride height low, stability control OFF.

What were you using to measure the times? Would be interesting to see some times for something like 45

What were you using to time, a Dragy? Can you do some 45-65 mph runs if you have one? Also 50-70, 50-80 and 60-90 times would be interesting to see. What were your charge levels? How about battery temps? What was the weather like and temps?
