I should record what mine reads sometimes. Suddenly on the freeway it'll display something like 13 mph, and I'm pretty sure I've seen it display mid 90 mph before. Makes me wonder what adaptive cruise is going to do after that. It also has no concept of signs that say "35 mph" with "ENDS" below it, which is frustratingly common around here and after having mapbox fix the issue on their side, the truck still displays the wrong thing. (And I think mapbox ended up reverting it too)
There is one spot I drive on often where a side street parallels a highway. The speed limit for the highway (55mph) is visable on the left. The truck picks it up every time and overrides the normally 35mph limit.

Improved Handling and Ride Comfort along with the 25% improvement in vampire drain while at home with GG off is spectacular. Look forward to these updates.
I like the changes, still waiting for auto mirror tilt when reversing. Should be simple.

I’m waiting for something similar. I would love to have proximity folding mirrors or even Alexa control of the mirrors so that I can fold them when I arrive home and before I pull into the garage.

Is anyone really going to use the default speed setting for ACC? It’s the headlining improvement and really it’s something I’d never bother with.

The biggest improvement, IMO, is the 25% improvement in vampire drain. That’s progress IMO. The ride improvements may be a bigger deal but Iā€˜ll have to drive for a bit before I decide.

Phone integration continues to be a sore spot for Rivian’s software. Some additional button controls is a minor improvement but Rivian is still missing key features like texting and even audio over USB.

And still no Netflix/Youtube/Disney+/etc./etc./etc.
How hard is it to make a webapp? How about just enabling a web browser with shortcuts built in?

Regarding the last part, maybe they're working with some of those companies to add them? Just a guess.

It’s interesting that the vampire drain improvements say with gear guard off and at home. Wonder what the difference is with gear guard off and not at home? Seems like it should be the same.

Yep. It will go off of the speed limit data and signs it reads. It also seems to time out if a new sign isn't read within a certain amount of time, but it does seem to vary at times.
I especially love when I'm driving around town, and get on local route 62, which is on a white sign with black text. My Rivian then sets my speed limit in the dash to 65. Spoiler alert, speed limit is 35 there. Fortunately a similar thing doesn't happen when I'm driving on route 85, I guess...

I read this as

I read that as 25% improvement with gear guard off. Split into two ways of turning it off:
A. GG disabled
B. GG disabled at home AND you're currently home.

Which is a great step because that's when I need to save the juice most of the time. Just 70% left to go :)

When is Rivian going to start incorporating traffic data into its route planning and estimates? I know, it allegedly already does that, but I don't buy it. Almost every day I'll sit in traffic for 30 minutes barely moving and it will tell me that my destination is 20 minutes away without every updating that estimate. Once the commute took me 1.5 hours and for a whole hour Rivian told me I was 22 minutes from home.
Your experience is exactly why I have my Garmin Dashcam 76 attached to my windshield. I was told that my R1T would supply me with all current traffic information. It does not. My Garmin tells me of all delays and suggested detours if traffic warrants them. The Garmin device tells me so much more.

Apologies for dumb question. Only got R1S a couple of weeks ago and this will be my first update. How are you notified you are able to update?

Companies want tight control for both safety and šŸ’°. We browser is open and Rivian will lose all control. Tim Cook would give his right arm to kill off safari on IPhone.

Also changing handling is a double edge sword. How do I know if I like it or not? Friends Audi got an update and made the steering feather light.

You’ll know. I usually get an update notification on my iPhone, in the Rivian app right at the top when you enter it, and on the vehicle’s main screen if you aren’t looking at your phone.

This is great! Usefull things that we need. The screen cleaning is nice but it will be much easier if it was including in car wash mode (that's the only time I clean them).

We all appreciate the updates and improvements! Please continue and never stop making it better!
But we all also need usefull features like an odometer in the drivers screen with tripometer, altimeter on the NAV and XM satellite music. Very normal and very useful things that should not be missing in the first place!

Using the speed limit + an offset would be great if my Rivian actually knew the correct speed limit but sadly that is about as good as it's routing and traffic data.
I have this feature in my Mach E, turned it off right away. Very dangerous. And the speed limit sign on the Rivian display is incorrect way more often than in my Mach E.

We might as well start the new thread now about unexpected acceleration or deceleration with cruise control with the latest software update.

Has anyone actually tried the ride quality improvements in this update? When I test drove an R1S the ride was… disconcerting.
