Rivian did promise to improve its cars over time but I didn't think it was through the process of elimination.Sounds like my wife's problem if we ever replace our R1
Reason number (too many to count) to keep my Gen 1
It does not make sense why they don't have it at launch when all the older models have itThey didn't remove it, they just haven't released it yet.
The little cubby is still in the dual motor r1s so that is possibly an Ascend trim thing. I could never have enough storage space/compartments.I mean yes there is storage elsewhere, but lack of a glovebox and removing the cubby is a bit annoying honestly. Sure there’s the drawer now, but what if you opt for the speaker? RivianTracker also stating that the removal doesn’t seem to be because of the 12V placement.
DM R1S still has it or at least the one I have. Are we sure this is happening to all their Standard and Accent interior finish options? Was this a rare occurrence to the ocean coast example shown? What are people seeing in their recently purchased 2025 R1's?
Took delivery of my Gen2 R1T just under three weeks ago, still have the storage. It is currently empty. Are we sure this is happening to all their Standard and Accent interior finish options? Does it pull power from your L2 charger or the battery? In gen1 in addition to being able to specify a desired temp at a desired time it's possible to get the power to do so pulled from the charger. What’s the issue? I have a Gen2 R1S and I often start climate control before I get to the car.
I think some of that elimination will continue until R2 and R3 start bringing in more cash and they can stop the bleed.Rivian did promise to improve its cars over time but I didn't think it was through the process of elimination.
Not hijacking this thread, but touching on one of the big reasons I'll continue to endorse early Gen 1 over Gen 2....Sounds like my wife's problem if we ever replace our R1

It's a good thing no one is asking you to run the company. Phew. That missing cubby is really going to send the company into a tailspin. Wow. /s
Flip that on its head... keeping that cubby is really going to send the company into a tailspin. Wow. / sIt's a good thing no one is asking you to run the company. Phew. That missing cubby is really going to send the company into a tailspin. Wow. /s
Next you'll tell us that we have so much storage because of the front trunk and sub trunk in the rear that we don't need any interior storage at all. It's ok for passengers to just climb to the back and get what they need in the ample storage provided. What is unimportant to you doesn't need to be unimportant to everyone. If it's no concern of yours, then you're invited to bypass the thread entirely. It's almost like you have a vested interest in making sure you argue with anyone that has a complaint. Minimizing others' concerns with trolling is beneath someone that puts on a pretense of intelligence.Regardless, the overreactions are hilarious, given there are other storage features, readily accessible by both driver and passenger. It's a false equivalent to 12V socket, since there are no other 12V sockets remaining.
Yeah if they really want to cut costs, the glass roof that I already have covered by a liner is a great place to start. While they are at it, can they take away the glass roof and air suspension please? On a more serious note, I don't care if they take that little cubby away. My last car only had enough space for sunglasses. The R1 feels like a football field of space.
