I didn’t want to post this until I actually did the deed in case somehow it was all some kind of big mistake. I’m not posting to brag, but rather to let folks know not to sleep on the trade in! Rivian offered $63,000 for my 2020 Tesla Model Y Long Range (only upgrade from the base model was 20” wheels), which is just over $9,000 more than I paid for it. I guess the confluence of gas prices, supply chain, rising EV demand, and the crazy used car market in general are really inflating car values right now.
I picked up my R1T (Pre-March preorder Adventure, FG/BM, 21”, power tonneau) for $13,600 ($74,950 base price + $2650 fees and taxes -$1000 deposit -$63,000 trade in). After the Federal Tax rebate, the total net cost of the upgrade from Model Y to R1T will end up being $6,100. I’ll post a thread later on my impressions between the two after I have more miles under my belt, but let’s just say I think that’s a screaming good deal.
