Hi all

We're finally ready with our ultra-bright lights! At least, the ones for the frunk and gear tunnel. (the footwell locations use an unusual dimming technique, so still working on those).

For R1S, I'm not sure if the non-dimming bulbs are used in a location other than the frunk, would love to know though :)

Rivian's design is actually very smart, so we really didn't change anything, other than the brightness, and color options. The bulb and specs are all on the website and video, but happy to answer any other questions here. Picture of the red lights in the tunnel below, I'd have done more, but I'm still aching from doing those yesterday!

Great video work ? liked the product tutorial you did and the jokes about getting in the gear tunnel. When my T does arrive, I'll keep this in mind.

I'm assuming the price is per bulb? So to do the Frunk and Gear Tunnel you need to order 4 total?

It is. These are the locations of the (non-dimming) bulbs.

These are very cool - thank you. I am debating between white and red, which leads to two questions: 1) do you know if the red lights help preserve night vision? 2) recognizing that there is color, how does the brightness of the reds compare to factory? Your video said 4x (non-linear), but wondering if you have any way to explain the output between red and white. Thanks - will be ordering.

I'm assuming these will work for the S frunk as well. Let us know.

I've used AO bulbs in my Tesla .. they work great. Looking forward to swapping out my bulbs when my R1S eventually arrives some time end of 2023!

Comparing any of the colors to white is tricky, even a lumen reading is deceptive in terms of how we perceive light. White will always be the most practical (brightest) color, but for these lights, red and yellow come next, then blue and purple. I would still say that the red 'seems' at least 2-3x brighter than the factory white.

I'm not sure about the night vision, as with all of our LED's, the color all comes from the diodes, so in terms of wavelength, the reds are right around 650-680nm. I'm no expert at all on this, so I asked ChatGpt :) :

Yes, in fact I'd love to know if there's other locations in the S that could also use them. Rivian have only used two types of bulb, one that dims (in the footwells), and one that doesn't (Frunk & tunnel for the T). It's likely they've used something in the trunk of the S, but so far I've not been able to confirm.

The dimming version looks like this (R1T footwells, presumable R1S too)

and the non-dimming version like this (R1T tunnel, and R1T/S frunk):

^^^ let's hope someone who has the S in hand can confirm. ^^^

I'm definitely interested in swapping out as many bulbs as practical in my S once I get it!

Whites ordered for me! I could use the lights a little brighter at times.

Going to order. Do you have a pic of yellow in the gear tunnel? Thanks!
