In the one competition that nobody wants to win, we have a new competitor! The refreshed Tesla Model Y was found on Tesla’s Chinese website.
Spoiler alert 🚨 the R2 and R3 aren’t going to have much competition from Tesla in the looks category. It seems the Model Y somehow got even uglier and more jellybean shaped than ever before!! And once again, their designers took a day off!

I'm more interested in whether there are any significant changes under the hood...

Subjective. I think Tesla did a pretty good job of going with styling that needs very little refresh every year and stays looking anywhere from decent to pretty good. CT definitely not included, but everything else. Hard to argue with sales numbers.

It's Chevy Equinox EV in the front and new Toyota Prius in the back, both of which I think are good looking cars in their own right.

It's a nice modernization of an aging design that needed some love.

Competition will come down to price, range, and availability.

Tesla will have these fully ramped worldwide by EOY, and R2 is going to be a bit of a slower pace likely well into 2027 and that's if there aren't any hiccups.

Either way, need the EV momentum to continue and I hope Tesla and Rivian sell everything they can make for decades to come.

Exterior is looking much nicer than outgoing model. In terms of performance - MYP if it's anything like M3P will be a killer.

Talk all the Tesla smack ya want. The Y is the best selling car in the world and will hold that title with this refresh. Excellent upgrades
It's only been #1 once and they lost the spot last year. It's still neck and neck, but it's not the best selling car and I doubt it will reach that title again with more ev options entering every year.

Looks are subjective. I don’t like it, but some folks don’t really care much about that anyway. The question is will it have enough upgrades to increase sales enough to make up for lost market share - I doubt it.

Tesla could have done that with a functional truck but Elmo decided he knew better… Now they are left hoping refreshes move the needle.

This is incorrect. It was the best selling vehicle globally (electric or gas) in 2023 and 2024.

I don't think it looks that bad does kinda look like the Kona with that front light bar. Too bad the car probably doesn't have a blinker or drive stalk.

I get it that looks are subjective, but I find it hilarious that there are several company’s hopping on the light bar band wagon right now(and don’t get me wrong, i love Rivians light bar). To me it just seems like lazy designing and for me, I want refreshes(mid-cycle or not) to move the bar both under the hood, as well as the looks. Seeing all these designers just stick with the current trends is just boring. Make the lights more squinty ✅ stick a light bar on the front ✅

And to everyone offended by my “Hot” take, it’s all just fun and games!
