I have a 2024 R1T that I am using to haul my daughter’s high school marching band equipment trailer to football games and band competitions almost every week. It’s basically a 24’ car hauler. It tows great.

This trailer does not have a battery - and the interior lights in the trailer seem to get their power from the charge line on the 7 blade trailer connector.

This seems to be a switched circuit on the Rivian. (Different trucks handle this differently… some are always on, some are on with the ignition)
I’ve noticed it is energized when the truck is on (with someone in it), just unlocked and for maybe 2-3 minutes after the truck locks.

Short of setting the seatbelt on and leaving a key or phone in the cab, has anybody figured out a way to keep this on?

I don’t have regular enough access to this trailer to experiment with it myself yet so I’m wondering if anybody here has figured this out already.

Would camp or show n tell mode help? I’m just looking for an easy way to prevent the lights from turning off all the time when the kids are loading or unloading the trailer.

Easiest way is putting a battery in the trailer, IMO. I'm assuming the interior lights are switched though.

I would imagine that Camp Mode may also achieve this but not having tested cannot confirm.
This is my thought. Camp mode stay on. I would also suggest a battery for the trailer.

Leave the door open?
That actually works - so does leaving the seatbelt fastened on the drivers side.
Just looking for a way I can leave it on if I’m not close by for maybe an hour or so. I’ll experiment with camp mode Friday night next time I’m hooked up to the trailer.
I’m also 100% behind the adding a battery idea but the trailer belongs to the boosters and lacks an already installed place to hook one up so easier said than done for the short term.

So after another band trip, I was able to figure this out: Camp Mode / Leave on solves this issue. I just turn off the HVAC so my HV battery doesn’t drain too fast.

I also talked to the boosters about getting a cheap 12v battery added to the trailer.
