Opinion time!

I have a 22 quad, white on ocean coast R1T, financed at about 6.3. Bought it used with 1500 miles on it to dive into Rivian from Tesla and try it out. At the moment, I have almost 10k miles on it, and its been great. Absolutely love it. That being said, I see the new $3,000 ICE incentive (show you own an ICE vehicle and get 3k off a shop R1T/R1S) as well as the $7,500 lease credit, along with a trade in about $2k more than I owe presently, and wonder if "upgrading" to a 2025 would be worth it. On paper, my payment would drop a few hundred as well. Id look at refinancing and buying out the lease in a year or so as well.

One thing holding me back a bit, is I live in a beach town in Rhode Island, and love to off-road in the soft sand. I'm sure the "all terrain" mode would handle it fine, but yea, still a thought. Small, but for my brain, its there. Other than that, the occasional trail, but nothing major is traveled.

Not sounding like a (insert your fave word here) but on the other hand, Im a mid-level content creator and influencer on IG and YT. Having "new" helps monetarily of course with views, etc. The newer, higher res cameras, as well as the Rivian Autonomy Platform+ would be beneficial.

What would you do? Stats on the "new" build below for reference.

R1T Dual
Dual-motor AWD Large battery
El Cap Granite paint
Bright Package
22" Sport Dark wheels
Utility Panel
Ocean Coast + Dark Ash Wood interior
Chilewich mats
Sound + Vision Package (Rivian Premium Audio & Dynamic Glass Roof)
Powered Tonneau Cover

Yeah, reducing power to half would be a hard pass for me... But if the power and numbers work for you, It's not a bad idea and you'll have a shiny new toy for content.

That power is something too, and def love it. To be honest, though, I rarely use anything but "conserve". I'll throw it in all-purpose to pass people at times, but that's it.

Shiny and new is my downfall. HA!

So you have a service center on where you can drive a DualMotor one for a few mins? If so, I'd try that and then make a call.

Looks like the trade would work for you in multiple aspects :)

Im halfway between Boston and NYC. Closest is Shelton CT and Chelsea MA, both a good hour and a half away. Sadly, dont think it would be a go to do so. Stinks.

Im so close to pressing the button. LOL

So, Ive set a standard. HA!

Silver or El Cap, ocean coast, dark 22's, dual large w/ performance upgrade, Rivian Premium Audio, powered tonneau cover, and preferably dark out package.

If that hits the shop, Im pulling the trigger.

I would skip the Brooklyn location. Very hard to get a feel for a test drive in stop-and-go traffic.

I didn't notice much difference between quad and dual performance. The non performance dual has what feels like a a delay. Similar to the LR Tesla Y vs the Performance.

4.5 0-60 is still very fast and its rumored that Rivian will offer an upgrade to performance ...s00n. The dual motor feels more refined than the Bosch quad ....but....the quad goes nicely with the personality of the truck.

I am considering the upgrade however the numbers just don't work out for me ATM. I would most likely purchase either a DMP or a Tri...would definitely lease too.

Ive never leased, and my entire end game would be to buy out ASAP, hopefully recooping some of that 7500 credit, along with the 3k ICE credit. Are you knowable about leasing and do a buy out? Would love to hear more opinions there as well.

Unless it has performance included, you will probably won't like it. I didn't. Currently have quad r1s and dual r1t non performance. I'm so used to the instant kick of the quad

I will say even though the Gen2 is suppose to be “cheaper” for Rivian to produce the build quality is superior imo to the Gen1. I have a gen2 R1S and I was blown away by the fit and finish and driving dynamics compared to my Gen1 R1T. If the numbers were right I would 100% upgrade to a gen2 R1T for the quality, the power would be a tricky situation though.
