From last summer to this past summer, I noticed the towing mode function had changed. The prior summer when hooked up to the boat trailer, I would manually change the drive mode to "Tow" & off we went. When I hooked it all up this past summer, the move to tow mode didn't exist although the truck seemed to acknowledge the trailer. Just wanted to get confirmation that it's an automatic function now (assuming that came in an update) & not needing to change drive modes. I was nervous towing as it's about a 9,500 lb load.

Correct. It automatically detects and engages tow mode once the 7-way is connected.

Yes tow mode is no longer a drive mode.

Just be sure you plug the 7-way connector in nice and firm till the little locking tab on the flap cover fully engages in to the cutout in the plug body. On one of our trips out last summer, I didn't lock the plug in to the vehicle all the way so on the whole trip down to the ramp the vehicle kept switching in to and out of trailer mode by itself, chiming every couple of seconds without stop.
That's when I realized they changed trailer mode to an automatic feature 😄

I’ll add the suggestion of dielectric grease on the 7-way to prevent corrosion as well as keep the electrical connection tight.

NOTE: Dielectric grease only to be used on dual motor versions.
The new tri motors require trielectric grease and quad motors get quadelectric grease.

Is there a way to engage tow mode if it doesn't detect the 7pin?
