It was very close, but after evaluation by two separate shops they deemed it was totaled. I am still awaiting the final paperwork on payout, but at least placed my deposit to start the process of ordering the replacement.
Well... that sucks.. On the bright side... Congrats on your Gen 2 upgrade!

Thomas, wishing you all of the best. I had an unlicensed driver turn in front of us with no time at all to avoid the collision. This doesn't seem as extensive as your damage so I'm hoping they can return it to like new condition. Fix Auto in Anaheim will repair the truck based on the AAA affiliation and favorable reviews.

I also wanted any owners to have my take on how the truck behaved during the collision which was really impressive. We've all felt that slow motion moment when something alarming is going on and the best I can describe is the impact was so well absorbed and lessened the jolt felt in the cab.
The other vehicle didn't look so hot.
A bit sore from tension and adrenaline but I'm with the other posters and plan on sticking with Rivian from a safety standpoint. Among all of the other great things of course.

A bit bummed about what this may do to value if I move to a newer Rivian one day but we'll see.

Be safe fellow owners!

I absolutely have to agree with your assessment of the ‘moment of impact’. My collision was around 40mph. It felt like a tap. The other vehicle was totaled. Never felt safer in a vehicle, and would do it again if mine were totaled out.

Glad everyone is okay...That was a mess and at least it was a glancing blow. If insurance does total it, here's my "Hopefully my R1S is never in an accident, but if it is and it's totaled" checklist:
Frunk
  • Frunk Divider
  • Frunk Net
  • Instacrates
  • Cooler
  • Tempo Temperature Logger
  • Charging Adapters
  • Umbrellas
Inside Front
  • EZ Pass
  • Flashlight
  • Camp Speaker
  • Floor Console Divider
  • Floor Mats
  • Magsafe Phone Charger
  • DriveCam SSD
  • Contents of Center Bin
  • Glasses in Driver Under Seat Bin
  • Umbrella in Passenger Under Seat Bin
Inside 2nd Row
  • Charging Cables in Seatback Pockets
  • Blanket Between Seats
  • Floor Mat
  • Head Rests?
Inside 3rd Row
  • Floor Mat
  • Charging Cables in Armrest Bins
Rear
  • Protective Rear Mat
  • Tie Downs
  • Rear Storage Lid
  • Portable Charger
  • Rear Storage Divider
  • First Aid Kit
  • Compressor Hose
  • All Tools, Pucks, Jack, Gloves, Extension Cords
Exterior
  • 20” Black Wheels and Tires?
  • Towing Hitch Cover
  • Rivian Valve Caps
That's a damn good list to have!
