We went to the OC fair yesterday. Before going checked the ChargePoint app and it said chargers were available at 15c/kwh. We arrived, plugged in and went to the fair. Checked the app later on and it was $3/kwh!! Before I knew it I was charged almost 40 bucks. Crazy. I get hiking up the rates for an event, but wow.

Did you take out some of your charging frustrations on that mallet/ bell game?

Actually no I don’t get that. It’s price gouging plain and simple. Report it to the appropriate authorities CPA of some kind.

If a gas station by the fair jacked up their prices to $10/gallon they would get in trouble, same should apply to charging stations.

Always check what the station says it is charging before you plug in.

I can not always see the charging station window, the glare from the sun is why. Then I am often a bit apprehensive from charge anxiety. As well I'm used to charging at home. Is there a video online to help us "Snowflakes" charge out monster trucks? The Different networks are confusing, I get the level 1, 2,&3 stuff, but the price and payment process is blind to me.

Similar thing happened to me. I had checked the ChargePoint app for a charger that was set to $3/HOUR and used it once. I went back, plugged in and made a call. Only after I checked the app about hour later, I found that the rate was now $.55/kwh. The sun was shining on the screens so it was impossible to see the screen. Lesson learned, ALWAYS check what the charger screen says
