In case anyone is wondering, the gear tunnel fits 4 five gallon propane tanks very nicely and pretty securely.

The gear tunnel is effectively inside the cabin.

This. They really should be transported in the bed but I guess it’s no different from folks who throw it into their trunk or hatch of an SUV.

Gear tunnel is probably safest from an accident perspective though, but I’ll still put them out in back and strap it.

I like it. I will be doing the same. Oddly enough I need to fill 4 this week. I use them for my patio heater.

I wouldn’t give a second thought about transporting them in the tunnel. Virtually all sources say it is safe to transport those tanks inside vehicles. Modern tanks have safety valves that prevent accidental release as long as they are secured upright and not carried on the side. In the event of a vehicle collision, they are safer in the tunnel than in the bed.

I learned it fits 5 gallon buckets standing up the other day as well. Might have solved my gear tunnel organization problem.
