Nice! How many amps are you running? How hot does your garage get in the summer?
It can get up to 120F. I have some smart home automations that "vent" the garage by opening all the doors to let some heat out. Breaker is 60 amps.

The automations are a great idea. The breaker is at 60 amps but what is the car charging at amps wise is what I meant. If it’s pulling 50 amps for hours for years, it should theoritically be fine, but risks do go up of a catastrophic failure. Also in the summers for some of us, the garage can get well into the 130’s increasing risks.

For what it's worth for anyone that's still following this thread - apparently the issues with the TUWC have been resolved with a software update. There's some comments about it over on the the TeslaMotorsClub thread. I can personally confirm. I received my replacement TUWC today, and on a whim tried my old one before swapping it out, and the old one worked for the first time ever. I still swapped it out, and the new one also works.

Good to know; thanks for the update.

FWIW I got my Tesla Universal charger a couple of weeks ago, and it worked fine on my...Hyundai Kona rental - my R1S was in the shop.

I just got the R1S back today, and it charged just fine the first time too. (Both the R1S and the Kona will start with a red light like something is wrong, but after a few seconds everything turns green and the charging proceeds as expected).

So I was one of the lucky ones that had everything work out of the box.

Yes thanks for the update. I brought the UWC to the second house where I’ll install it, but too much going on this weekend so it will have to wait for my next visit. Glad to know I won’t have to get a new one when I get around to it.

Sent Tesla the ol "very disappointed" email. Checked the connector today and I am now updated to firmware HEAD (3CAE3FBA856679)-3cae3fb and it mostly works now! I get one red flash then green charging.
