No. The cheapest version only has rear wheel drive, 0-60 is 6.5 sec, and only tows 7500 lbs.....

Oh, and it looks like s**t....

It's not nearly as bad looking as I was afraid it would be. Only $100, so I ordered one. I do like the tonneau. I don't like the sloped bed sides.

Probably 2 years before I can actually get either one, so plenty of time to see what is finally produced.
I ordered as well. Could be the company job site truck with the Rivian being the date nice and boss truck.

I’m looking for evidence that this truck is real, and that Tesla has developed the concept sufficiently to be a real competitor, Vs. needing to push a public announcement to counter what seems to be a solid production plan from Rivian.[

/QUOTE]

Aside from price, I saw nothing that motivates me to consider a Tesla pickup.. That design will not serve my needs.

When the truck drove out, and Elon started talking specs, I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come out on stage and say that everyone got Punk'd. I love the specs. I love the price IF you can compare an apples to apples model of each. I love the fact that they highlighted a kitchen as if to say, THANKS for the idea Rivian. I hate the design. It is the love child of a DeLorean, 1979 Lotus Esprit, F-117 Stealth Fighter, and a drawing of a truck I made in red crayon when I was 4 years old.

And what was with those outfits? It was like they were told "dress like Mad Max", but none of them had any clue who The Road Warrior was and dressed like the Terminator instead....
I believe they were trying to channel the attire from the movie Blade Runner. Pictures from outside the building had replicas of the taxi and spinner (what the Blade Runner hunters road in) vehicles from the Blade Runner movie.

Elon had been saying that over the last couple months...Blade Runner-esque...

My brother sent me this meme...

Comically Tragic moments in product reveals: note I use USB every day now. Like usb, and Tucker’s saftey features, Tesla’s windows may prove visionary... eventually.

but not... yet.

Surely those sharp lines on the cyber truck aren’t going to make production?

I'm so looking forward to showing my spouse (who has been agitating for an EV pickup) some images from the unveiling. She thought that the Workhorse pickup was pretty unappealing. This one should produce some memorable quotes.

The combination of cab forward design, sharp edges, and such a rigid exoskeleton makes me wonder what the crash ratings will be like on Tesla's pickup. It seems to ignore a lot of established work on collision safety. I'm not convinced that's the best place for such a radical departure (especially on a limited development schedule) but we'll see...

. . . Tesla’s windows may prove visionary . . .
Some visions are just hallucinations.

Some years back several car manufacturers began to use laminated safety glass in side windows as well as windshields. Reports began to accumulate of emergency crews who were unable to break the windows to get to injured occupants after accidents. Virtually every manufacturer, supported by pressure from insurers, reverted to using breakable glass in the side windows.

Unless you are a head of state, the star of an action film, or a drug dealer it's probably not a good idea to be beyond the reach of anyone in any circumstances when in your vehicle.
