I would agree with this post. Elon paved the way for everyone else even the majors that are getting into the field. When Tesla started EVs were a party trick and he turned them into a viable source of transportation. Tesla's success paved the way and showed that money can be made from electric vehicles and that people want to buy them.

Agree with all of that. Major manufacturers would have never got around to it.

But for some reason we're turning into a society that, instead of just admiring talented people, needs to literally worship them.

I predict Elon's going to write his memoirs one day and it will start with the time he was sitting at home, feet up and a doob hanging from the corner of his mouth. Laughing his a$$ off after revealing that stupid-looking truck.
