Terribly confused/frustrated with charging schedule— can I really only have one schedule?

I have two charging locations— home and cabin. Each has a Rivian wall charger. Last week at the cabin my wife actually set a schedule, for it to finish charging late morning before we departed.
We’re now at home, and I plugged in last night, expecting the R1S to start charging when I had the timer set for— about 2 a.m. but finishing by 9 a.m. when my electric rate shoots back up.

Got up this morning and saw that it had not charged— because the car didn’t know it was at home. How is that possible? There’s enough software in there for the thing to know exactly where it is at all times.

Am I misunderstanding how to set the charging schedule, or is this still one of those dumb, overlooked quirks that still exists? Do I really have to tell it on the map where it is—by dragging the pin to my home address, every time I make a schedule or a change to the schedule?

Whats weird about this is that if it didn't think it was "home", it should have charged right away. Thats happened to me.

It should be a feature request to have more than one home location. The garage door integration knows this, not sure why the charging schedule can't.

I have had no issues regarding scheduled charging. Drive well.

I won't be of any help, but am curious...

Does the Rivian EVSE itself not allow for scheduling, or does Rivian EVSE scheduling operate through the vehicle?

I have just a single Chargepoint EVSE, which is set up with a schedule based on rates. If I had a second similar EVSE elsewhere, it, too, would have its own independent schedule and there wouldn't be a problem with different schedules at different locations, as the EVSEs themselves would control the flow. (That assumes wi-fi access at both locales, of course.)

I have the same issue, but in my case I have a Rivian charger in one location and a ChargePoint HomeFlex at the other. One house has low rates from 7 PM to 1 PM, and the other from 10 PM to 5 PM. I tried combining the times and setting it to charge from 10 PM to 1 PM, but it won't recognize one of the locations as 'home'. My work-around at that location, which I do not like, is to leave it unplugged until the rates go down at 10 PM.

I'll be watching this thread to see if someone can suggest a solution.

You could set a schedule on the Chargepoint charger, and use the schedule on the car for the other one.

I don’t know if this will work for you since I don’t use the Rivian charger I use the Tesla Universal charger.
Don’t schedule the charging in the Rivian I do it with the Tesla app for the wall charger. Then you can have a schedule for each charger.

There’s no software interface with the Rivian EVSE by itself, to my knowledge. The Rivian app controls use of the charger— I doubt one could connect to a Rivian EVSE without a handshake first via the app.

Oh, on the schedule, yes, it sucks. And it's so damn stupid that it would take so little effort to add multiple calendars. For my usage, it wouldn't be a second home, I'd like to have different schedules for weekends and for certain times of the year. We have multiple rate steps and times/days/dates.

The car should just charge all the time when away from home however. I've never had to tell it otherwise when I use a random L2 charge location.

I agree, the schedule is supposed to pause when not at saved location. My guess is the schedule got changed but did not actually work at the remote location but kicked in when they got home with the new times.

I’ve never tested this though because I do not use the Rivian schedule, my Emporia chargers allow me to set black-out windows to prevent charging at peak times.
