Ten years ago, if anyone had told me that I’d own a pickup that could smoke any motorcycle off the line...

Somewhat related I had a dude in a souped up Mustang pull up next to me driving my wife’s i4M50 yesterday in Nashville and revved the shit out of his engine wanting to race me. He got destroyed.

Had him by 5-6 car lengths before letting off as I had to make my turn. I never get tired of that. Most people don’t want to race my Rivian anymore tho. People did a lot more when I first got it two years ago but other trucks aren’t even worth racing.

The inverse of this is also true: because the Rivian is an EV, it has really good emergency stopping distance. Few months back, I had a REEEEEALLY close call with someone who suddenly shot into my lane. Because the EV doesn't coast (as much), I was able to brake hard with no contact. Had I been driving my ICE, we probably would've hit.

The ones that make me laugh are the young kids (or adults) with their lowered cars with the glasspak exhaust on them that make it sound really fast. All blacked out windows, thumping music. Sometimes (very rarely though) I will smoke them off the line or on the freeway. I would say 9 times out of 10 they are being idiots.

Most of the time, I just let it roll and sit in my nice truck and realize.....let them get the ticket!
I hate those cars. I've always said that those kinds of owners are overcompensating for uh...something. With the advent of the EV, the adage "gotta watch out for the quiet ones" is now a literal thing on the road.

This thread does remind me of my love for chatting up these folks and asking them when they are going to get something that goes fast... Always a good look.

Most people are pretty good natured about it. Some.

Folks in this case being defined as owners of (Challenger, Charger - hellcat or ss anything, Mustangs with that shelby dude, any pre 2015 vette, Range Rovers, Any ICE truck really, Wait sorry this list is going to get long you get the drift)

...I would have told them to find a different crack dealer.

At the previous light, I had done a half-throttle take-off and the guy on the sportbike had given a thumbs up. He didn't realize it was only half throttle. Good time, and this is how fun should be had, not the assholes who give me the finger when they lose.

Yes, I will ALWAYS say yes to a street race. No, I don't care if you think it's stupid. Yes, I am definitely immature and plan to stay that way.
It’s not that a Rivian is faster than most motorcycles its just that the Rivian requires no skill in order to be that fast. Mash the pedal and watch is all it takes. I’ve owned many bikes that are faster than a quad motor but unless you’re a skilled rider it’s difficult to squeeze all the potential. Example, the BMW R1250GS, a decidedly not road/race bike does 0-60 in 3.16 seconds.
