TechCrunch: Rivian’s new ‘treehouse’ rooftop tent comes with a movie projector

A Rivian patent for just such a device was discussed here on RivianForums back in November. However this sounds like it is inside the tent.

"The rooftop tent, which Rivian calls the treehouse, is equipped with a movie projector, which is run using power from the Rivian, Brian Gase, Rivian’s senior director of prototype and special projects, told TechCrunch during a customer event in Laguna Beach, California.

This new treehouse product is contained in a hardshell, which then opens up into a large rooftop tent. Opposite the opening is a large window, where the roll-down screen is located, Gase said. The projector can be connected to a power source from the vehicle, he added. The treehouse also comes with an interior fan and lighting."

Based on the video I saw it’s likely a $100-$200 LED lit LCD projector - it’ll add to the cost but we’re not talking a costly home theater projector here. Love how they use the “lid” as the screen though.

We picked up a projector during lockdown let the kids be humans with friends, in our backyard. Outdoor movie watching is fun! Add firepit and marshmallows for the win.
