Just bought 2 Samsung tablets to mount on the back of the headrests in my R1S.

Whats your go to or best recommendations to mount them and also be secured and not removed easily?

FWIW - The I developed the original version of this, and it's the only one that is still tool-less so you can remove it when not in use. (instead of having a big plastic bit right in front of someones face) It also has a hook that you can swap in.

I also open-sourced the design of it, so you can print one for little to no cost if you have a 3D printer: https://www.printables.com/model/1107634-nextgen-seat-back-tablet-mount-for-rivian-r1s-r1t

Be careful with those mount for backseat hooks. I have two different types, they do work well but if you have young kids the car coat hooks on backseat can break and fall out. I had it fall out and asked service center for quote to put one back, it was like $30 for new part and $200 for the labor. So i passed on that service. I tried putting it back myself, it seems like you have to open up the entire headrest area to access it.

This is a really solid point that I incorporated, and I think needs to be included in all of these. I specifically engineered my version to support about 20 lbs of weight - more than enough for a tablet, purse, groceries or dry cleaning, but much less than the hook on the seat back is rated to.

I've also made spare parts such as the bracket available separately should a toddler try to pull themselves in by it: https://opensourceev.com/products/rear-seat-tablet-mount-bracket

My kids have built in tablet mounts - their hands.
I'm not going to advocate for any particular solution in this thread, because I'm not affiliated or have any bias with these products. In fact, those with whom I've interacted with: I like them all, and they all seem to have solid products.

However, I'd caution that 'tech neck' is a thing. And it's becoming ever-more-prevalent in kids. And it's definitely something you should be aware of: protecting their spines, especially as they grow and growth plates are forming.

I love the fact that we mount our kiddo's tablet and/or Switch on the seatback. It forces him to sit back and look forward, instead of staring down. We, in fact, have a policy that if tech IS used in the vehicle, our little man is disallowed from keeping it on his lap because he does default to staring down at it. Not only an issue for growth, but imagine what would happen during any type of impact or violent stop. Not ideal.

Just my unsolicited .02
