I'm curious if anyone has figured out a way to speed up Rivian's provision of replacement parts. My R1S was sideswiped in September and went into their recommend auto body shop in October. To date (now three months later), Rivian has not been able to ship replacement doors. The entire repair is being held up for lack of parts. I've called Rivian to complain a few times but the answer comes back "we don't know when there will be parts." I'd welcome any insight.

I'm surprised this is still a challenge, as they've been at this a few years now and should have had time to produce spare parts while vehicle production was constrained due to the 3Q motor windings snafu.

I've owned Teslas for 12 years and had a few fender-benders along the way. All but one was in drivable condition afterwards, and after getting the damage assessed for insurance, I wouldn't hand over the car to start the work until they had all the parts (and even some potentially needed parts) on hand.

Unfortunately it sounds like your damage was probably more significant. My only advice would be to try to find a way to contact someone higher up at Rivian, to escalate the issue. Anyone here have any connections?

Is yours a 2025 or a 2022-2024 gen 1 model?

Yeah that’s not good. No ETA at all on the doors? This is concerning because there are a lot of Gen1 vehicles out there.

There have to be good junkyard doors available somewhere. Even if you have to strip and repaint them.
That might be faster and cheaper than waiting on the OEM.

We waited almost 3 months for a new hood to repair our R1s. Then when we did get one at the shop, it was already damaged. Parts from Rivian are a racket.

Rivian keeps promising the doors by a certain date and then the date passes without any doors arriving. Hollis Auto Body calls them every week to ask for an update. I’ve been calling Rivian too and get the same empty promises. This was my one big concern about buying the car in the first place, that spare parts would be scarce. It has been three months now with no end in sight.

This is now my major worry. It has put me off thinking about buying from Rivian again even though I was enjoying the car before this.

At this point it is worth looking. I will talk to the body shop about this.

Misery loves company.

I have a friend in Houston, TX who was rear ended in hit R1T on September 7th. Took it to the shop the following week. He was told yesterday that it was still at least 3 weeks out. 4 months! It is a problem.

My coworkers asked how Truck handles snow. Told them great but not about to drive it and have some other yahoo slide into it as before reading this thread just made an assumption parts are a pain in the ass or insurance might try to total it. 😒

Since Rivian is or at least was supply constrained on copper for motors...I can't make sense of why they can't get body shop needed components out. Hooefully they improve that because it should be a consideration for people buying vehicles....the repairability of the vehicle..and if OEM takes months to get parts out....that isn't a good look.

Totally agree with you. It isn’t like I need a new motor. I just need doors.

I concur...seems to be a group at Rivian that needs some improvement/attention.
