I have seen a few discussions wondering about ways to keep the cabin cooler in the summer. I don't have my R1S yet, but Rivian's original story of adding electrochromic glass is something that someone could really do on their own. I'm not sure if I will ever pursue it, but I thought someone in a warmer climate may appreciate the information.
I was working on a project for my home that switchable glass film would have worked instead of a shade. I went with the shade (because I'm cheap), but the technology intrigued me. From the conversations I have had with them the film is custom so they could create whatever size you needed to be installed on the inside of the roof panel. There are many other companies that sell similar products, there is a 'transitions' style film out there for residential applications that should work, and I'm sure there are other good options.

Any thoughts on this?
