Whose "real world" numbers are going to be the standard? The EPA range is a number determined in a specific way (unless you're one of those car manufacturers who fully games it). It's better to start with a known process and apply your own deviation that just start anywhere and declare it canon.

I’m personally waiting for Dave’s findings on range. He seems to know everything.

In all seriousness, if you are that sensitive to range, you’re making a bad decision. If routine trips would be anywhere close to 300 mi without available charging currently available, you should wait.

Good god this is the biggest crybaby thread on this entire site. Nobody is forcing anybody here to keep their deposit in place. Quit logging onto the internet and threatening to bail. Just bail and save the keystrokes. Then go get in line in for some other company’s purchase queue for their vaporware car that also isn’t available today, can’t be test driven, doesn’t have interior photos, and does not have a concrete delivery date attached to it. I’m sure you’ll having nothing to complain about over in that world.

If your head is in the sand you may have missed that there was some sort of pesky bug going around last year that caused a bit of disruption in every GD industry on the planet. (Try going to Home Depot and getting a sheet of plywood.) If you somehow think that Rivian can magically float above reality, when no other auto manufacturer can, I don’t know what to tell you.

If you think their marketing people are just dreaming up ways to trick you into staying the course, get over yourself. Demand is through the roof for these things and most of us have never seen one. Pretty sure we're aligned on this. I'm not suggesting the EPA number is irrelevant. My point is that it requires context and real world comparison to be useful. Numerous accounts are necessary to get a good picture of how the truck would perform in various conditions for most people. No individual data point should be considered canon, first because some manufacturers can and do seem to game the EPA methodology and second because your mileage may vary, literally (and pun intended).

Ranting repeatedly on a forum hoping you will change Rivians corporate culture is probably fruitless. Much of the lashback at the compainers has been due to their assertion that they represent the vast majority of reservation holders. A leap of (il)logic even greater than they express in their wild theories about any number of "facts" about Rivian
