Spikes-Spiders will fit on rear tires, @bagsofcole, though Rivian doesn't authorize them. [EDIT: This applies to 33" diameter tires such as 275/50R22 or 275/55R21. It does NOT necessarily apply to 34" diameter tires such as 275/65R20.]

On the front tires, apparently anything bigger than snow socks can interfere with steering.

Best wishes!
Thanks Dave! Do people do that? socks up front and cables or chains in the rear? Think that would work in my scenario, it's only 1/4 mile.

The big advantage of Spikes-Spiders is that after you learn the system and adjust the traction elements the first time, it takes about a minute per wheel to put them on and a little less than a minute per wheel to take them off.

Our situation is a lot like yours -- we're on a hill above town. The road has about a 15% grade and ends in a T intersection. It's gotta be right.

Very best wishes!

Took my Gen1 R1T quad up an icy and snowy PNW forest service road today. The road transitioned from icy ruts to wet and half-frozen snow 18" deep. I have the super Z8 cables and got to the point where continuing with AT tires alone was getting sketchy. (I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires in 275/65/R20.)

I stopped and chained up the rear tires and I'm happy to report that I had no issues with rubbing or damage to the wheels, wheel wells, brakes or suspension components. Speeds stayed underneath 15 mph. The chains did an excellent job of providing extra traction and inspired confidence for the rest of the drive. I know Rivian recommends against it, but I will be keeping this setup for future winter adventures.
