It's only 4g, so if you have been used to 5g or 5gUW, 4g would seem slow. When my iPhone is connected to Rivian hotspot, I find the speed is slow.
Do you experience the same?
Thanks!
Isn’t that funny? Back when 4g was new, no one thought it was slow. It's only 4g, so if you have been used to 5g or 5gUW, 4g would seem slow.
I sometimes wish the circuit boards (& cameras) are swappable for the upgrade. That’s bc the Gen 1 infotainment system has a Snapdragon 820 that was released in 2015? It’s never gonna be fast as compared to today’s standards and the more updates you pile onto it, it’s gonna get worse. But “unlimited hotspot” for $150 a year….
"Slow" is very subjective. The hotspot in my 2021 Audi Q5e maxes out at about 1.5 Mbps down. I'd consider that to be slow. A few weeks ago I tested the hotspot in a Gen 2 R1T and got about 125 Mbps down. That should be more than fast enough for most people's needs, even with a few devices sharing the bandwidth. When my iPhone is connected to Rivian hotspot, I find the speed is slow.
Just depends on your mobile service provider. I have Spectrum (runs on Verizon network) and I get 5G to 5GB, then it slows to, I presume, 4G/LTE. They have another plan to gives you up to 10GB of 5G before slowing down, but it's $10 more per month. At that point, Connect+ makes more sense since it's unlimited and also has additional features. When my iPhone is connected to Rivian hotspot, I find the speed is slow.

Not sure what you mean by "how we are paying for this slow service."Yeah it’s slow for my iPhone also. I’m in CA and wondering how we are paying for this slow service.
