I know it different in each state, but I thought front window tinting was limited to the top 4-5 inches of the window.

It has no motors and no batteries. It isn't drivable. The inside is probably not finished either, so they tinted the windows so you can't see what is inside.

It seems to have Davis Tracy's attention, so I'm intrigued. I wonder if they are going to be using wheel hub motors or something similar, because I can't imagine he'd be saying his mind was blown just for an EV that's decontented enough to be under $30k.

Any link to the Joint Venture? I remember reading an article that said alot of OEMs showed interest s in the JV platform. There seems to by alot of links between amazon and rivian.

“Obviously, other OEMs are talking to us, and we’re trying to figure out how to support that in the future,” Bensaid told Reuters. “Any other OEM who wants to make a leap from a technology standpoint, the joint venture today becomes one of the key partners with whom they can make that collaboration. I’d say that many other OEMs are knocking on our door.”

There is no link. Other than Bezos. None that have been announced anyway. And I see no benefit for Rivian to be involved in such a small start up. Their interest is in selling to bigger players with greater capital. Because what would benefit Rivian? Revenue and further cost reduction through economy of scale, through shared components. A small start up has neither to offer.

I remain skeptical. If they’re talking a $25k price point, it’s probably sub-200 mile range and L2 charging only. There could be a market for that, but it’s a niche market and not a mass market.

Also remember that the shortest time we’ve ever seen from a promising product announcement to a finished product is something like 4 years. This is true even for the fastest moving EV startups.

I’ll be curious to see what they launch, but I don’t think it will be anything worth spending a lot of time thinking about.
