Valid question. Still listed on the website as a feature, so I'm hopeful it isn't yet another cost cutting loss.

I'm assuming its still there but somehow in the bottom two oval portion. I initially thought they were for the compressor, but the size matches the cable mechanism they showed previously as well as additionally above them is digital display for the compressor to the right, and the + - control to its left.

I do hope the cable is still part of the vehicle for transporting bikes etc, but I would never rely on a cable the width of my laptop power cord exclusively to keep my bike from being stolen, but did like the potential for it to trigger an alarm and record.
Yup. Same here. I was hoping to be able to put the bike on the tailgate and just run the lock cable through when I go into a restaurant or something else.

Any ideas to what this might be?

Ha ha ha! That's why the Twitter Feed hasn't been updated and "next week's" big reveal event hasn't happened; not the oversight in the bed overview. Suitable disclaimers associated with security cables are as old as cables themselves. . . .

Hahaha! Yeah I use Bluebeam for my job but those arrows are from my screen capture app, which is the free version of Screenpresso.

Just a boring guess, but they might just be the covers hiding the attachment points for the side panels in the bed. In other words, you might be able to pop those circles off to reveal the bolts that need to be removed to remove the side panels to access and repair the electronics for the bed, lights, compressor etc.

The Rivian website still says

Gear Guard
Our remote monitoring system features a cut-resistant locking cable that wraps around your gear and plugs into the bed wall – connecting directly into the vehicle security system. Remotely monitor your gear through the Rivian app and receive instant alerts if the system senses an interruption. A camera in the bed also monitors your gear.

And CS just confirmed it was still a thing
"To answer your first question, there will be a cut-resistant locking cable that wraps around your gear and plugs into the bed wall, connecting directly into the vehicle security system. More to come on if the cable itself is retractable, but there is also a camera in the bed that monitors and tracks and gear that you store in the bed! "

From that answer I'm going to assume the cable will be a separate component, each end plugging in to the ports below the compressor. which I'm okay with if that makes it potentially more beefy and potentially still small enough to coil up and put in the gear tunnel door compartment

Does anyone have a good understanding of how the load bearing panel they covers the tailgate gap fold up with the tailgate? I am struggling to envision it.
Here is a picture I took when it was in Austin. You can clearly see the extra panel in the picture. It slides up with the tailgate. In other words as you lift the tailgate it also lifts and sandwiches to the tailgate.

Sure seems this latest story could have shown automatic Tonneau cover being operated, fully extended

?

This video shows the vehicles the best still to date. but keep in mind it was filmed at the LA Autoshow in 2019 and these were the initial prototypes so several features have changed or been removed. but the 13:48 mark shows the tonneau cover in action. as well as the rear bed tail gate gap bridge portion. again lots has been changed but the functionality/principles are still there.

That's what I am thinking too, but I don't see any connection to the actual tailgate to facilitate that in this photo.

Hi, the tailgate design has changed somewhat from what's seen in this video, but at 13:50 you can see how it might work on the current design.

They increased available ground clearance from 14.5" to 14.9" which I believe is a pretty sweet increase!!!
Does that increase just reflect the use of the 20" AT tires as opposed to the standard 21" AS tires? I think the minimum height is a little higher too.

I thought CS said that the powered tailgate was removed?

The R1T tailgate opens automatically and can be controlled through the app, fob, in-vehicle controls or a button on the bed rail. On the bed walls, forged steel tie-downs in each corner help strap in heavy cargo. On the bed rails above, there are four additional tie-downs that double as mounting points for our Cargo Crossbars. On the bed wall near the tailgate are two 15-amp, 110-volt plugs.
