They do not talk to each other. They go into a 100 amp sub panel that also has some household circuits. With both running they could pop the 100 amp circuit, but I try to stagger the charging.
How can a 30-amp and a 60-amp connector "pop" a 100-amp breaker? Are there other circuits on the same panel?

I have three EVs:

  • 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV
  • 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range
  • 2023 Rivian R1S Quad Large
To charge them, I have three Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connectors:

  • Single Car Garage (Has its own dedicated 60amp circuit): Gen 3 with 18ft cable with a Lectron tesla to j1772 adapter, used for the Chevy Bolt EUV.
  • Double Car Garage (Shared 60amp circuit): Gen 3 with 24ft cable, used for the Tesla Model Y.
  • Double Car Garage (Shared 60amp circuit): Tesla Universal Wall Connector, used for the Rivian R1S.

Tesla charger does it all for our Model Y and R1T. Humbly serving from the driveway side of our 100-year-old Portland house.

Yup, they have a 30% off sale on the Autel site with free shipping as well. Excellent charger.

Still need to complete the finish work, but here's mine. 2x Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48A in a load-sharing configuration. Allows each individual unit to reach a 48A peak or divvy a total of 48A between the two. I was a bit irked to discover mid-way through the install the additional sub-panel between the two wasn't necessary, but it works.

Hey there! I'm new to this forum and just poking around. I'm toying with getting one of these chargers vs the official Rivian one. Can you let me know how this has been working for you? Also, would you recommend hard wiring vs plug in? Forgive the noob q, I'm new to Rivian (not delivered yet) and I've never charged an EV. Haha. Thanks!

I bought the Rivian charger with my vehicle in 2023. I have had no issues with it . I do like the fact that is coordinates with the app, but its really not necessary.

I do recommend hard wired if possible. Plugs can fail and hard wired seems safer to me and can allow more amperage. I can max at 48A, but I virtually never charge at that rate. Its nice to have the option, but makes no difference to me if it takes 4 vs 6 hours overnight to charge while I am sleeping.

With NACS around the corner I might buy either a dual charger today or a less expensive charger now with the thought of upgrading when the vehicles transition.

If you have the opportunity to run larger wiring do so. If you will have more than one EV, plan the load sharing or sub panel now. Much easier to do that once and give you future flexibility.

Best wishes.

This is a noob question for sure, but is there an issue with having the box inside the garage but running the cable under the door to charge outside? I'm concerned about the weight of my garage door damaging the charging cable over time as it will come down on top of it as the door closes... Any thoughts?
My issue is that for now, the truck will be parked outside and will need to be charged. In the future, I plan to reclaim the garage as a place to park an expensive asset instead of store garbage... :)

That was my initial plan for our charger before our R1S delivery but after some research, here’s what I did. I could not be happier with the charger or the set up.

This looks lovely! Have you used anything else besides the Autel? I'm awaiting my Rivian pick up and doing a deep dive into charging situations. I don't think I can hardwire because I'm moving from this house in a few months and it's probably not worth the cost. Looking for a good/mobile solution and I've had my eyes on this and the Chargepoint. Any insight is appreciated.
