you can buy an EV cord protector from Amazon. It’s about 4” square and 1/2” thick with a channel in the middle for the cord to pass through, the garage door shuts on top of it.
Two scrap pieces of wood, each about a half-inch thick and an inch wide, one on either side of the cord, do the same thing for me.

Looks like the "new" autel design there. Looks great, I love our autel and not one hiccup just past one year of usage.Some of you have some fabulous installs! I have a 100 year old house with an almost 50 year old panel. It's an over stretched 100A but passed a load calc by a hair using a 50a for the evse. Except for AC there are no major appliance loads using ng for heating. Short run so an easy install.
The weekend house is even older and got the $100 install with a 14-50 since it gets so little use. Had plenty of cable and conduit left over.

A small update to this set up... I designed and 3d printed a holster/dock for the charge plug. Yes, the Rivian one has one on its side, but I wanted a holster that was more plainly visible and at the optimal height to minimize movement and time. This one also click locks. Was doing this necessary? Probably not. But I was mostly doing it as an experiment in getting familiar with 3D printing and the design software. I printed it in PLA. The cylinder part detached after a few weeks and super gluing it back on seems to have fixed that. I am actually very satisfied with this small addition because the whole plug/unplug routine is one of those repetative tasks that just feel best when fully streamlined or optimized for comfort, ease and speed. I realize I put more time into this than I will get back, shaving 2 seconds off a 4 second routine, but I much more enjoy the feel.I remodeled my garage a year ago. Trusscore (vinyl) walls, proslat slat wall, and racedeck free flow draining tiles. Designed personally. This may also be good for reddit r/garageporn but I'm not the social media type. Only occasionally seek validation. Hope y'all like.
I like the 3d printed holster. One of the big selling points of my autel was it came with the remote holster, it didn't occur to me I could just print one.We installed the ChargePoint Home Flex in the garage, and while we were at it, had an extra 240v outlet installed in the driveway as a courtesy charger location for when we have visitors who might need a little charge.
I use the 3D printed charger hook instead of the built in one because we park fairly close to that wall and it's easier to reach with the charger handle closer to the charge port on the R1T.
