Congrats. Still love my Autel charger, just need the truck. I enjoy seeing it get firmware updates. I noticed it was on sale again on Amazon. No photos yet because the delivery caught us by surprise and we haven't had a chance to schedule the electrical work. We have an existing 240v outlet in our pole barn and I bought an Autel MaxiCharger at Amazon for $449 (after $110 coupon). Wasn't sure how well it would work but I figured I'd risk it. Connected to app via BlueTooth and I was charging in minutes (a very decent 19mi/hr). Electrician is coming this week to install outlet in garage. Ordered a second Autel so I have 2 chargers for a little more than the cost of one Rivian charger. We'll see how well it performs over time but for now it gets a great review. UPDATE: 14-50 outlet was installed successfully on a 50A circuit but my charger was delayed in transit. Should arrive tomorrow.
Verbally, I did a Chargepoint home flex, 50A breaker, outdoor plug, will pump out 40A continuos. Plug 3 feet off ground (occasionally we get 2 foot storms maybe once every other year).Wow, I finally get to post on this thread! Just installed on Friday. R1S coming tomorrow (Monday) and also a Genesis GV60 coming imminently for my wife.
I've been looking around on Amazon for the same cord passthrough you used on the garage door here, but not sure which size is appropriate. Would you be willing to send the link or size that you ended up getting as well as the black mount you used for the charger handle? Here was how I configured my setup.
Installed the Rivian charger hard wired via 6ga cable (very small run to my panel) using a 60amp breaker.
Then mounted a place to store my cable closer to my garage door which I cut a hole through and installed a cap/door as a cable pass-through. (I also created an insulated foam plug to go into the cap when I'm not using it)
So now when I want to charge the truck I just pass the cable through my garage door. When I'm done I put it all away.
Sure thing.I've been looking around on Amazon for the same cord passthrough you used on the garage door here, but not sure which size is appropriate. Would you be willing to send the link or size that you ended up getting as well as the black mount you used for the charger handle?
Thank you!
So speedy and exactly what I needed, thanks so much!Sure thing.
Here was the two items requested.
Lectron EV Charger Nozzle Holster Dock and J-Hook Combination for J1772 Connector https://a.co/d/1NDnXRu
NU-SET Lock | RV Electrical Cable Hatch | Electrical Cable Hatch | RV Accessories & Door Hardware,RV011 (White) https://a.co/d/hWQw8Is
I ended up cutting the back off the cable hatch so the cable and J1772 connector could fit though better. (Basically trimmed it about 1.5-2")
Hope this info helps
His and hers.....Wow, I finally get to post on this thread! Just installed on Friday. R1S coming tomorrow (Monday) and also a Genesis GV60 coming imminently for my wife.
Hire a local licensed electrician, I had it done for $400 w/o having a circuit in place.I am not as handy as most of the people on this thread and am wondering who installed the charger for those who didn't do it themselves? I received an estimate from QMerit for $799 to contract with a local electrician which seems excessive since I already have a 240v 50a dedicated outlet in the garage so the basic infrastructure is already in place to hardwire.
Have others used this QMerit or just hired your own electrician?
I received the charger from Rivian last week but the R1T is another month out so no huge rush.
If you already have the outlet then why would you need anything else (unless it's something other than a 14-50 outlet, in which case you may need someone to swap it out, but not for anywhere near $799)? We just used a licensed electrician. Very efficient knowledgeable guy. His first time dealing with EV charging but otherwise very skilled.I am not as handy as most of the people on this thread and am wondering who installed the charger for those who didn't do it themselves? I believe that's the base price for QMerit. You can't get a quote for less than that from them.I am not as handy as most of the people on this thread and am wondering who installed the charger for those who didn't do it themselves?
