Has anyone tried any seatbelt chime defeats on their R1T? I have done them in the past and they are either control sequences or removing a spring from the buckle assembly. Yeah I wear my seatbelt regularly, I'm not a yahoo, but neither am I a fan of the nanny chime which stops my music in the truck cold turkey and then rings a Microsoft-like PC noise every 30 seconds. For those of us who use our trucks, take 'em offroad, etc, this would be a plus. Any help would be appreciated before I resort to buying a buckle on Amazon, e.g. which one worked for our seatbelt configuration. Thanks everyone!

Spend the money on Amazon. IMO this is not something that should be enabled through software - if you want to do it, then you should have to take a deliberate action to do it and it should be visible that you are bypassing the safety feature so that you can't forget you changed the software setting.

Can't you just buckle the seatbelt behind you?

ha, yes, i will say that it is the least intrusive/noisy reminder I've ever kind of barely heard. you can barely hear it which is great, except it also mutes your music when it chimes - so you do notice it then - dang.

i think it is sensitive to speeds, forget but if it doesn't come on under say 20mph or so then its perfectly fine for offroading use, etc.

Worse than the seatbelt chime is when the car decides to shift into Park when you are trying to drive because it senses no seatbelt and not enough weight. I think this only happens in reverse, not sure.

ah, is that what’s happening? I couldn’t figure out the unique combination that caused this to happen.

Reverse plus no seatbelt plus not enough weight makes sense. I tend to look over my shoulder when backing down my driveway and it shifts into park. When I turn around I’m probably only partly on the seat. I also usually only put my seatbelt on when I get to the end of my driveway but before entering the street.

How does the amazon thing work? Do you have a link? I suggested this to my rivian advisor but he said it probably wouldn't happen. The reality is the tone is so un-obtrusive that I hardly notice it.

Do you not listen to music often? It is the most intrusive chime I've ever experienced. It literally stops your music or phone call even when the vehicle isn't in drive. It drives me insane because my natural instinct upon getting into a car is to rest my foot on the brake, which triggers the chime before the vehicle is even in drive. Sometimes I am getting in while on a call that gets automatically transferred and my audio goes dead. There is definitely no low-speed cut-off either.

To the OP, unfortunately a dummy buckle isn't a long term solution because the car will not turn off or lock when you walk away if it is buckled. I bought an extender so that I could leave it in full time and still buckle like normal, but I learned that was a no-go once I got back to my car after a day in the office only to see it had been keeping it cool and unlocked all day. Thankfully I park in a secure garage.

Doesn’t matter in Reverse or Drive. It shifts into park anytime you lift your butt off the seat. This happens to me every time I’m at a drivethru lifting up to get my wallet out of my back pocket.

Surprising just how difficult it is for us to adapt. We are, as they say, “creatures of habit”.

The only time that I drive without my seatbelt is when I'm off road and then not usually listening to music.
