Hi Everyone,

Need some help trouble shooting my home charging setup.

I have a Grizzl-E 40A Smart charger at home. When I connect it to the Rivian and ask to charge. It works perfectly fine. However, if I schedule a charge either via the Grizzle-E app or via the Rivian itself, it wont start at the scheduled time (midnight..to align with the local electricity rates). So for the past few times I have been going out at midnight when I see it wont charge and unplugging and replugging the connector to the Rivian and it starts charging flawlessly.

I raised a ticket with Rivian and the customer support basically told me, if its not a Rivian charger then they wont support it and its not the vehicles fault. But I am getting this attached error..

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Thanks,
Paachi

Is the Grizzl-E actively connected to the network? I also have this "smart" charger but ended up disabling the wifi/resetting it so it never connects to the network. There's a bug where if you connect to your wifi and somehow reset or restart your wifi, it bugs out and won't charge until physically unplugging it from electrical outlet.
My suggestion is to try resetting/disabling wifi on the Grizzl-E and let the Rivian do the charge scheduling.
My other suggestion is just don't buy Grizzl-E. It looks nice, heavy duty but just not that great of a charger. I have the normal 40A one (died after 2 years with some odd grounding issue that other users have also reported) and the "smart" version that is just a dumb charger atm.

Thanks @supervlover I have deleted the Grizzl E from the Wi-Fi. Let me see if it works tonight and post back.
Unfortunately I purchased it based on some YouTube reviews (and a good price) and can’t return anymore.

I have the "dumb" Grizzl-e 40A and it works fine with scheduling on the truck so there may be something to the "make it dumb" advice

Several have reported that scheduled charging from an EVSE results in this connection error stuff. If you disable the EVSE's schedule you can swipe up on the button bar in the center display and tap on the lightning bolt for the energy display. On the right side of that screen you can schedule the vehicle to charge within a time window. In my case I set it for 0730p-1230p since my peak ToU period is 0100p - 0700p and it works well for me. You can set the vehicle's schedule to apply to all days or just weekdays, depending on your power provider's rate plan.

Did you physically reset the wifi on the Grizzl-E (opening up the panel and change the dip switch)?

no I removed it from my network via the app and my router. I’ll this tonight if it doesn’t work then I’ll open it up tomm and see what dipswitches need changing.

Followup update for anyone reading this thread later.

Just removing the Grizzl-E charger from my wifi network did not work. Per the advice above I disconnected and opened up the charger and dropped the first dip switch down. The config now was 1-down, 2-up, 3-up, 4-down. The charger now works perfectly and the Rivian manages the scheduling.

Thanks for the advice everyone!!

Late to see this thread and glad you got it working. I never set up the “smart” feature on my grizzl-e and have been doing what you’re now doing - using it as a “dumb” charger and letting the R1 do all the scheduling. Works fine. I got the smart version b/c we were thinking we would use the scheduling for my wife’s e-tron but if I were to buy again maybe I would save a few bucks and just buy the classic “dumb” grizzl-e.
