Are they really that far along with autonomous driving?

I've been curious about this the entire time. For those of us who don't want to use the "autonomous" features, will be still have to pay for them? Is the function going behind a paywall like some of the other options?

Rivian will make you pay bail to be removed from Driver+ jail.

It’s probably something like Tesla’s basic autopilot (Driver+) v Tesla’s enhanced autopilot (Driver+ enhanced)

That's what I have been assuming. I don't see myself ever wanting to use it. But I also knew there was a chance I would be forced to pay for it if it's included in a package with other things I do want.

I imagine it’ll be available only if you want to pay up for the features

They have yet to provide any details but they originally were planning a membership that was more inclusive but announced they changed direction and were working on a a-la-cart model.

I can see both ways, would be cheaper if they got a high acceptance rate on an all inclusive model but if they expect to not get a high buy on that, then although probably more expensive per item more revenue in the a-la-cart model.

I’ve been very curious to see what it all looks like and wha the price points are.

They were smart to give it some time and see how people use all this stuff. Now they probably have a better idea what usage rates are and what they can charge for it. Driver+ is like the only feature I haven't even tried once in my truck.

You should try it, like autopilot on my Tesla I only use it on the open road during a trip. In that use case it really does make the drive pretty relaxing.

I will definitely give it try before it becomes something I might have to pay for. I love the idea of it, but I still don't trust the other lunatics on the road enough to let the truck take over. Who knows - I might like it.

I hope they tread very carefully with subscription based features. Autonomous driving? Sure, that requires some level of continued development and overhead. Additional driving modes or other things the vehicle is already capable of? Hell no.
