Gen 1 Sample.

Forgot to add that this will be offered with topo maps as well. This is the blank option. We will be able to add custom topo maps as well as our original rainier texture. Keep a look out on Monday for the how it looks with the texture.

I love this direction, honestly
Thank you. The lack of replies is scaring me as we went out on a limb here. It's a silicone topper and we can laser a design if people want as an option. The gen2 follows a similar principle, it just wasn't the correct color and I didn't want to show that.

The silicone is much more resistant to heat and uv rays in the cabin and now that the bowl and top are all one piece it can be removed for easy cleaning.

On Monday, I'll show one of the samples with the rainier texture and people can get an idea of how that looks.

Is the revised Gen 1 charger going to have an upgrade option again, one that reuses the step down charger I already have?

Also, have you looked at doing some sort of Rivian logo inspired diamond pattern in addition to the topo map? Something that would go with the texture on the cargo area in front of the camp speaker.

Can't use any diamond textures as rivian would be quick to reinforce their IP. Our plan is to offer topo maps as it's been what has driven us thus far.

I've been running the gen2 sample in my truck for a month now, as well as one of my beta testers. And it's been awesome how well it grabs the phone. With the magsafe chargers in place I can hold my phone in place vertically.

As for an upgrade path. Yes we will offer it. We always do. We wouldn't be here without our customers. I'm not sure what the price point will be at this moment.

Looks great! How thick is the silicone where it goes over the MagSafe chargers (just curious) like what’s the limit of thickness that eliminates the charge from making it through (I know this will work otherwise you wouldn’t make it) but curious what the data is

Where I’ve noticed an issue currently is my quad lock mag safe case doesn’t work well with the driver side puck, it works better on the passenger side (so maybe the height of my pucks under the current top is different. My regular MagSafe case works fine on both sides so there’s something different about the quad lock case that makes it less efficient to the point where it makes a difference

1.5 mm. So difference between the veneer and the silicone is .5 mm. Should be mostly negligible but obviously thicker means less energy. I will say gut feeling it's the same. I've been using the Anker charging puck and the new apple magsafe puck and they both have been working great. Though I still prefer the Anker.

On your quad lock, it could be lifted or misaligned with the drivers side puck location.

On this design, I have modified the location of the pucks to work with more phones and cases.

Something has to be different on mine just enough to matter on the quad lock but not enough to matter on the MagSafe case, which I find interesting. Must be a very very slight variance, no biggie I’m waiting for the new top / warranty replacement anyhow so it’s not bothering me

Looking forward to getting this for my Gen 1! Thanks for sharing updates along the way - excited to see we're approaching the final stages.

I really like the idea of using silicone for the grip and durability. I’m reserving judgement until more photos and the install video drops. I think the blank sample is kinda boring after the originals with the topo engraved. And the colors in the photo don’t seem great, so I’m having a hard time appreciating the color you were going for … so I’m waiting for more … hoping the install video gives a clearer picture of the finish.

Yup. The sample is just a blank canvas intentionally. (And in my opinion I agree it's boring) I wanted to option to offer a blank slate for those that want it and an option to laser the topo maps. As for the color we ended up going with a matte black. It matches very well in truck, and I would argue it looks similar to the OEM mat ( a little darker though). We tried color matching... That went poorly.

The thing is we are going for something that disappears in the cabin of the vehicle. The kind of accessory that when someone sits in your r1 they think... "Oh is this accessory? I thought it came with the truck. "

Happy to take video or pictures as wanted. This is gen1 spec and should be production ready.

You can see in this photo how it's closer to the color of the leather found on the steering wheel and seats.

Thanks for the extra photo from an angle. That helps show the color/finish a bit better, I think!
