Rotating Spare Tire Lift System patent by Rivian

I'd be willing to bet this is not retrofittable to current MY vehicles, and we'll see where it falls out cost wise - standard vs optional on future years. But seems like a good idea.

Looks like it. Don’t see why it couldnt be retrofitted. maybe it would require changing or adding holes to the “tub” of the spare tire well At most.

That "fold out" design would be a huge improvement over having to lift the tire straight up out of the well.

As to the question from @timf about " Isn't that already the current design? " - Not really, there is no lift mechanism other than you, that is of course after you remove the retaining cap/ring/nut and long a$$ bolt leaving the tire sitting in the void to be manually grappled out.
