Cool, mine works great. As a relatively new customer (9/24 delivery), I have now given up on being concerned about the micro-adjustments Rivian seems to do constantly. I understand the reasoning, but hope that folks not on these forums don't notice, otherwise they might start wondering WTF is going on over there.

I got called recently about the 12v battery change and hub re-torquing and asked if the new power tonneau upgrade was available. He checked and gave me a “soft” quote of $2900 to install the v2 cover. My R1t has always been a manual cover (using the interrobang one). I’ll have to think about this.

For that price I'd seriously consider adding it.

Shoot, this finally looks like a product I would pay for. Anyone want to bet if they'll ever make it available as a (paid) retrofit? ?
Haven't had mine replaced under warranty yet, I'm hoping the new one is the standard by the time mine fails.

I just noticed you can filter the available inventory for V2 covers. Awesome.

I assume V2 isn't as strong as V1, so no setting items on top. I wonder if they'll have V1 cassette available at a discounted price... If/when mine fails, I'll try DIY repair before going replacement route. Service manual makes it look pretty straight forward.

V1 was never meant to be load bearing either. $3k has long been the consensus speculation. It’s not great but not horrible either.

Assumption based on an expected thinner panel design in V2 to support roll-up format, or based on something else?

Thinner design. I don't put a ton of heavy things on it right now, but I also don't think twice when setting a box on there. I'd like to see how flexible V2 is and what would happen if you set a bag of groceries on it.

I sure do HOPE that it can handle at least a 'bag of groceries' load. I guess I've become spoiled by my Interrobang manual cover... that I (150 lbs) can stand on when necessary. What is the reasonable load limit that others have seen on the V1 PTC?

So… anyone actually take delivery of a V2 PTC equipped vehicle yet?! Anxious to hear some V2 tonneau cover feedback. I may have decisions to make soon…
Thanks

I just ordered a R1T Tri (Storm Blue!!!) from the shop with the V2 cover. If nobody else reports before I get mine, I will. Hopefully it will arrive at the SC next week. I want it now! LOL.

Don't own one, but I played around with the one installed on the California Dune edition truck at the local show room. It is soooo much smoother and quieter...my first question was "when can I buy it for my truck." It's an unofficial answer, but the guy working the showroom said that they will be making it available for retrofit. Another observation while I was there, that truck's front stub/sub-frame is fully dipped/gel-coated. In poking my head underneath, the only raw aluminum I saw was that of the a-arms. Since I haven't heard that called out in prior comparisons of gen 1 and gen 2, I'm guessing we're maybe looking at a v3 front stub..but maybe it's just coated?? Will be interested in seeing a more detailed comparison as they start getting out in the wild.

Interesting. Any chance you looked in the gear tunnel? @Riviot seems to have confirmed no documented V2PTC-related changes impacting the gear tunnel, but it would be nice to have a direct visual confirmation.
