Automaker Rivian plans to open a distribution center for parts and accessories in the Netherlands.

This is apparent from vacancies of the American manufacturer of electric cars. Various managers for a Dutch distribution center for parts and accessories of Rivian are being recruited on the job vacancy website LinkedIn. The American company is looking for a warehouse supervisor and an inventory manager, among other things.

VDL Nedcar

Rivian declined to respond to a question from Het Financieele Dagblad (FD) about where the distribution center should be located in the Netherlands. The maker of electric cars is currently looking for a first production location in Europe. There have been intensive contacts with VDL Nedcar for some time about a possible collaboration in Born. The first contracts between the two have already been signed, VDL has recently had part of the Sterrebos cut down for an expansion of the factory and VDL employees frequently travel to the US to help with production.

nothing for sure

Since the end of 2020, Rivian has had two subsidiaries in Amsterdam: Rivian Europe bv and Rivian Netherlands bv. At least twenty people work there. According to experts, the arrival of a warehouse may indicate that the American company will eventually also produce in the Netherlands, but nothing is certain. The FD quotes car analyst Matthias Schmidt who suspects that Rivian initially only wants to do the final assembly in the Netherlands, in order to avoid import tariffs for complete cars.
