Our first road trip (Miami, FL to Saugatuck, MI) in our R1S has been nothing short of spectacular… thank you @Rivian. Our dog is having an amazing ride too. So comfy for all! When it comes to charging, thank goodness for Tesla super charging. Recommend that one pays the non-Tesla monthly membership as the the kWh fees are significantly less. Sad that the Adventure Network (Rivian) is so over priced. I hope @Rivian will make the appropriate changes in the future.

I have heard that Rivian charges more because it is based on 100% renewable energy (non-fossil fuel). Not sure if that is true or not. Great marketing. I guess it involves carbon-offsets.

Well, I'm with SRP in Arizona and their program to provide renewable energy for my house adds 10% to my monthly bill. So it would seem that at worst the RAN chargers should be 10% more expensive than Tesla Superchargers.

The big EV networks do this.

https://www.evgo.com/company/sustainability/

I wasn't able to find anything on Chargepoint, but their business model is different. Tesla has claimed they will/are doing this, but in typical Tesla fashion, it is impossible to verify.

I can buy renewable energy credits from my utility (essentially what RAN, EA, and EVGo are doing) for $0.01/kWh. Big players are likely buying these REC's at less than half of what I'm paying.

It's not a $0 expense, but it's pretty minor compared with everything else that goes into DCFC.
