Wonder if the delay in regulatory approval has anything do with the fact that Rivian is not a union shop?
An additional $4500 tax credit for union made electric vehicles has been proposed. Don't know. Curious. 🤷‍♂️
There is a less than zero percent chance that the union status of their workforce has anything to do with it. FMVSS etc compliance doesn’t care how the sausage is made, so to speak. The finished article is what must meet regs.

sauce: I’ve designed vehicles which required DOT/TC approval

edit: I’m too lazy to check NHTSA but Rivian is not listed with Transport Canada yet.

Most likely you're correct. Could also be anyone who has seen the confidential S-1 filing/road show, as delivery ramp up details are very likely to be included in those materials.
Most likely it was the EPA ratings (on Aug 30th - the date of the article - they had not been released)

Sorry for the confusion. I was just referencing the potential source for the September 100 deliveries target. Not anything about government sign off.

You asked for it...

Seems like some poor alignment on the bottom of the rear door.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but it appears that the trim piece on the gear tunnel may be the piece that is misaligned. The crease above it appears to be right in line with the crease in the adjacent panel. Also, the gaps look good. That's just my take, your view may vary.

I thought RJ in the 3rd photo was standing next to a suitcase and thought maybe he's packed up so he can drive it right to @DuckTruck 's door.
I'd switch to Rivian Blue and make up the guest bedroom, if that would make it happen.

I'm just happy to see these rolling off the line, as promised:
"On-time delivery? CHECK!",
"Excited fanbase? CHECK!",
"Sledgehammer ready? STAND DOWN!"

Probably just a misunderstanding. Although, I guess they could have given one to a customer that was a very early pre-order holder or exec
I work in communications and this just strikes me as exceptionally poor copy.

Someone in the news room looked at the tweet and tried to make it sound more conversational, without understanding the very different meaning of what they were saying.
