That's fair. My experience comes from the building envelope side. From that respect, the project is almost done. I have no experience setting up these sorts of lines, though, so I'll defer to your expertise in that regard.
We should connect and build a factory, lol!

I should hope the shell should go up quickly; it's just the shell. There are over 350,000 industrial buildings in the U.S. Making another one is not the hard part. The hard part, which Rivian has yet to get right, is building the manufacturing lines to produce defect free cars in a reasonable amount of time.
Demonstrably false. There is no such thing as a line that produces all vehicles with zero issues. Rivian continues to do EVs right. Drive well.

I love it, but I’m still leaning hard towards an R3X instead of the R2.
My wife is as well. She kinds of fell in love with it at the Denver space. It’s damn cool!!

Considering when the expansion was announced, construction is much further along than I anticipated. With that, I most definitely believe that R2 deliveries will commence in 2026. Q1 might be a stretch, however spring/summer is not an unreasonable expectation.
It is more than an expectation, it is a commitment. If sales do not start until Q3 they will pay a steep price in the market. Good management, which they have, would have set Q2 knowing to a high degree of confidence that they could meet it and have a stretch goal in mind (Q1) to have an upside financially and for the stock perception.

Well, I hope RJ and company executes production better than R1. We all need it.

The scale and the production rate for R2 is greater than anything Rivian has taken on thus far. While there are lessons learned from R1 EDV and R1 gen 2,, for them to be profitable, plenty of new processes must be implemented to lower the cost further and keep the price where they stated, all the while maintaining target gross margin (not initially - target over the steady state production)

I recall that the state of IL provided Rivian with big funding to put R2 in Normal, it's not clear to me that they needed to build out such a large facility to do the R2. There's a tradeoff between the factory size and capacity vs timeline to get production started. It seems to me that Rivian needs R2 now, let alone a year from now.

The image shown of Normal factory was a disappointment. I expected them to be further along the production roadmap. Tesla had factory built and producing vehicles in less than a year. Rivian is going take nearly 2 years from announcement to start of production.

Agreed best laid plans can go sideways but then there are consequences. Hence why a buffer would be built in to allow for the inevitable small delays.

A positive note is that they have extensive experience from the challenges building out & starting up the R1 line during COVID. Hopefully they remember the lessons learned and have that build into the schedule, as well as contingency plans for when things go awry during integration and start up. Not if - it's when, cuz that's just what happens in a project this big.

If I'm giving up my R1T and going smaller -- it's this.
Well, I’m likely going to trace my R1T for a Scout but the R3X will be my 2nd car.

Looking good, but based on that photo, shipping a customer ordered vehicle in 2Q26 is going to be a challenge, let alone 1Q26.
DUH! Rivian's designing and developing a a couple car model while building the factory. Everything about building cars and factories is a challenge regardless of the brands tenure in the market.

What’s false is the belief that you cannot produce 99.9% defect free automobiles. Toyota was doing it for many years and taught the world how it is done but they have now placed profits ahead of quality. I still believe if you build the highest quality product you can charge almost anything you want ( within reason) as consumers want quality and are willing to pay for it

Thanks Captain Obvious.

Duh, I was referring to the post suggesting 1Q26 deliveries. Sorry you didn’t understand that.

Yes that was the made up part I didn't want to mention. From the picture I see potential in Q425 deliveries also made up and of course the car has posi-traction.

More nonsense "Zelda knows better than Rivian" or "Rivian should do X" other posts. Keep em coming.
