Rivians spotted in new Long Way Home series

It was their last series that featured LiveWire and Rivian from tip of South America back o LA that got us interested in Rivian.

Hope this will do the same for more people, especially for R2.

Exactly 100%! That series had the early Rivian R1T prototypes it was great to see the vehicles capabilities and them working through adversity, they even set up a charging network throughout South America, Mexico and into CA for Rivian and the HD Electric motorcycles. That was an incredible journey / series. Being a classic motorcycle enthusiast (and a LE R1S owner) I'm very excited for this one as well!

Huge fan of this series, McGregor and Boorman are fantastic together...I'm sure this will be another soul moving adventure! Yes, their last one "Long Way Up" got me interested in Rivian too, was super impressed with what they put that truck though especially being a very early pre-production vehicle at the time.

I do wish they kept the pull-to-charge ability but the techs said that wasn’t pushed to production units.

Not in production units? There is a YouTube video of Ben Sullins tow charging his Rivian - but it only worked if it wasn't completely dead.

Gary Oldman makes that show. I mean, it would be good without him, but he’s what makes it one of the best.

Agree that Oldman is terrific, but IMO, the show has one of the strongest casts of any recent TV series. Everyone is very good, particularly the female cast members; they are all outstanding and it's impossible to pick a favorite (or favourite). The show is actually good right from the opening credits and the catchy theme music by Mick Jagger.

The story about the music is that the producers of "Slow Horses" thought that Jagger's voice would set the mood for the show perfectly, and decided to contact him, thinking they had no shot at actually getting him. To their surprise, Jagger jumped at the chance, saying that he'd read all of Mick Herron's books (the basis for the series) and loved them.

If you haven't read any of the "Slough House" books that the series is based on, you are missing out on a lot. Each season is based on one of the novels, all of which are very well written and a joy to read. I've been a fan of British spy novels for a long time, from those by Graham Greene to the early offerings from Len Deighton & Ken Follet and of course, the books by David Cornwall (better known as John Le Carre.) I think it's safe to include Mick Herron's books as well.

Can’t wait. And like others, Long Way Up really turned me on to Rivian. All the hardship the support vehicles went thru AND they were just prototypes/pre-production? Take my money. My R1S plates pay homage to the show even.

Why would it work? The car recharges when it slows down or goes down a hill, I don’t see how the vehicle would know the difference whether there a tractor was pulling it or not. anyone ever try it?

My understanding is you need to press the accelerator a little bit so the vehicle thinks you are driving and then it will work otherwise it will not release the parking break.

To be clear, I have not tested this, just going by what I have read.

Cannot agree more, and with Apple One Bundle for cloud and apple music, it was a no brainer to switch off of Spotify.

Fabulous! My wife and I have watched all three “Long Way” series and loved every one. I had been thinking that Charley Boorman’s injuries precluded him from doing any more long rides, but apparently not. And they are riding vintage bikes.

AppleTV says “Coming soon 2025”.
