Same here I have a Model 3 that I love and was was going for a Model x but it’s too much like a car not enough ground clearance and pricey. Rivian came along at a good time so I put in my reservation.

I hope there a ton more people that are going to order one of these trucks that are not watching this forum because so far only 78 vehicles with deposits is not too encouraging to see, its a long way from 20,000.

Rivian has already stated tens of thousands of reservations (this was a couple months ago). They also said reservation totals exceeded expectations, but have not released the total number, or our individual preorder numbers.

I’m late to this post but have mentioned it on a few other sites. I put my Pre-order $1k down on April 24. I was at the NYIAS by chance 5 days earlier and was intrigued by the R1T. Went home, compiled a list of questions and went back on a weeknight and sat in their conference room with Patrick (corporate guy) who gladly answered all my questions as much as he was allowed. I also spoke with Trent (another corporate guy ) a specialist in the “skateboard platform”. Both gave me enough informational immediately drop my deposit down. They have plans to release information very slowly over the next months. My girlfriend can’t get over how much I’m talking about this truck and company. She’s already a #rivianwidow Lol. I hope they deliver!!
I haven’t seen it in person but it’s my favorite upcoming ev. I likely will sell my Tesla’s either X or 3PD to make room! Haven’t preordered but $1k might as well awaiting more details on actual deliveries for orders as of now....

Jazzy,
LOL @ #rivianwidow...that's hilarious! My wife is tired of hearing me talk about it (to her & others), but I think Rivian is a game changer.

Have your wife join @rivian.widows.club on Instagram. My girl started it. It’s not too fun yet, but those ladies sure will make it fun !

Pre-ordered the R1T a couple of months ago, but now leaning heavily toward the R1S. Can't wait for the configurator to go live to check out all of the options for both!

I hope this vehicle will help push Americans to go electric. Does anyone know when we will be able to choose options?

Just voted. I preordered the R1S way back in November, but will be switching to the R1T. I want the largest battery capacity and in the SUV that eliminates the 3rd row, IIRC. And calling the seats back there a 3rd row is a stretch anyway. If I can't put any sizable human in the 3rd row, why get the SUV? With the frunk and the covered bed, I don't anticipate needing the additional storage inside the cabin, especially when I do this:

I originally was looking to get the R1S with the 135 kWh BP, but I didn't have any use for the 3rd row seats. FWIW, I found out RJ mentioned a couple/few months ago that there will be an option to NOT include 3rd row seats when configuring your R1S order. This obviously only pertinent to the 105 and 135 kWh battery pack options. So if you were looking to get either of these two battery packs and didn't want the 3rd row seats, you can.

Have my deposit down too for the R1T pickup.

Unless pre-orders are unexpectedly good or 1st year production is highly constrained, I think all pre-orders will probably end up being 1st year production model. But hopefully by Rivian being a smaller nimble startup, fixes to issues can be rolled out as an on-going basis and not delayed until next model years.
After being at the event in Denver on the 15th, I whole-heartedly believe that Rivian will do whatever it takes to ensure that it's 1st run pre-order customers are taken care of.

Pre-order on the R1T. Have wanted a pickup for awhile. I told my wife I ordered a Raptor, the model (1:24 scale) arrived from Amazon 2 days later. Problem with standard pickups is lack of secure storage. The frunk and tunnel solve that. The other problem is the mileage penalty for performance. I'll sell my Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT when I take delivery of the R1T. Looking forward to better performance and gas mileage. I'm hoping the production quality is where it needs to be when it is time for my build.

Isn't that a problem in ANY car?? You stand on the GAS pedal in an ICE and you get a mileage penalty. You stand on the GO pedal in an EV and you get a mileage penalty.
