If we go off of the 1,760 lb payload that was previously reported, the R1T could weigh as much as 6,241-7,240 lbs. That payload is no longer listed on their website, so who knows if it's still accurate.

EDIT:
Customer Service just confirmed to me that the payload of the R1T is "1,764 lbs".
This means that if the R1T is in the 8,001-9,000 lb range for GVWR, it's Curb Weight is more than we previously expected... at least 6,241 lbs... maybe more.
Are you accounting for passengers? That would lower the curb weight, if not.

If the GVWR is within 1,000lbs for the largest and smallest battery, which I assume it is based on this info, we can possibly assume the maximum payload for a small battery pack R1T is higher than the max payload for the large pack.

I was finally able to find Rivian's VIN deciphering document in the NHTSA database. This all but confirms the initial deliveries will be sold as 2022 model year, and includes some other interesting information. The R1S is not included yet.

Interesting that they encode the trim level in the VIN. Feels like it’s been many years since auto companies did that or am I mis-remembering

Per fueleconomy.gov, the Dept of Energy updates the website weekly. So theoretically Rivian's official rating could show up there before Rivian tells us ?

I have a search flag on it with no luck daily, Id assume Rivian controls that information and will let DOE know when to publish unfortunately.

Good point. Now I’m wondering when is it a difference in model, body style, engine vs an option package? I’ve got some research to do.

I wondered how the check digit is calculated. I was about to ask, but decided to look it up, instead. :)
The check digit is calculated by removing all of the letters and substituting them with their appropriate number counterparts. You then take those numbers and multiply them against a weight factor table. You then have 16 numbers which you add together and divide by 11. The remainder is the check digit. If the remainder is 10, then the check digit is “X."
I used the calculator here: VIN calc

So mine (R1T) is: 7FCTGAAL2NN007401 (well, maybe)

Are vehicle's ending serial numbers typically designated by model or overall production sequence?
