Haven't looked at the postings, but I'm guessing you better know AWS.
Well - I just looked - pretty standard DevOps platform but..."Experience with K8S (Kubernetes) and container orchestration preferably AWS EKS" so...yeah, AWS seems like a good assumption.

If I could have gotten in about a thousand employees ago I'd be applying right now, since I work in InfoSec. Even with their eventual valuation, whatever options they're offering would likely pale compared to my current employer's compensation package.

It would be an absolute dream to work for Rivian though. Maybe I'll try to get an interview just for the fun of it :D

There was a infosec position there I was clearly qualified for and would have even love to have a conversation about if they feel my qualificiations were not up to par but it was rejected citing not a good fit when I applied. Its tough to get a interview even or at least from a few people I know who have been trying to get into Rivian.

That sounds about like what I'd expect, given the overall quality enterprise they appear to be building. Not meaning that in reference to your qualifications, just that I'm sure they're being very picky and I'm sure they're getting tons of applicants.

That is reinforced for me given that I get headhunted an average of twice a day or so, yet I've not once been contacted by Rivian or a third party recruiting for them.

All good for me - If I had to choose between working for them and driving one, I'll take my R1T please :D

I actually went through the interview process.

One thing to note, their comp wasn't competitive for the role I interviewed for (Unless they were valued at at least 100B) vs unnamed Internet Search company. Granted some Social Media company isn't that competitive either.

My friend was applying for their Field Specialist (He has been doing Fleet management for 6 years) but they wanted him to fill a Vehicle Operations rep, $20 a hour with limited benefits and partial compensation thru company equity, but working almost 7 days a week. I can see why those positions have a hard time being filled.

Ouch. That is disappointing to hear. I am not sure they're going to get an early valuation of 100B, but maybe. Unless their compensation package outside of options was absolutely incredible, it would be tough to attract top talent (or morons like me lol) given the types of compensation available for high-expertise tech workers. Even moreso in the infosec field, which is throwing around absolutely bananas compensation packages due to extreme shortages of qualified workers.

Yah pretty crazy all around, I think their top tier packages are as you mentioned for the big department heads and maybe a click or 2 below at most, the rest is just industry average but the benefit of working for a cool company that is still in startup mode.

Not to say the retail investors won't pump the valuation, but there's no way Rivian is worth $70B, much less $100B, IMO.

I could understand $50B, but that's still almost Ford's market cap, which also seems a little crazy in comparison. Except for when you compare to Tesla of course, but I can't help but think they will come back down to earth in the next 1-2 years as well.

Lucid is a prime example granted they didn't have the backing like Rivian does but their evaluation vs stock price vs IPO price was a crap show.

People should look more closely at the company equity aspect of the compensation package. That could end up being a windfall in the long run. I've been able to put myself in a pretty comfortable position with similar packages.

I've seen friends miss out on good opportunities because of short term verses long term views.
