With our first winter storm in a few years I was really excited to get out and play in the snow.

During my snow-drifting I noticed a JEEP coming into the open field to join me.
at that moment… he drove into a ditch… (see pics and video).
the voice heard is the amused girlfriend of the very embarrassed JEEP driver.

Nice result for the 21’s! Also, looks like we have the same truck color and wheel combo.

Good on you for helping them out. And on 21s no doubt!

That can happen so easily in a field of snow - no depth perception until you are so close it's too late.

Well done, R1T_Malach! I'm in NoVA as well and took my quad motor Gen 1 R1S with 22s for a spin in the snow for the first time. It handled the snow and hills (all paved streets) well - except one. I tried (twice)to drive up a short, steep, snow-covered hill in snow mode and the R1S just cut power as soon as the wheels started to spin. I was a little surprised; I'd driven up the same hill in similar conditions in my XC90 without issue. I guess snow mode was telling me that the 22s with the standard Perelli tires (definitely not snow tires) weren't going to get me up the hill.

I keep forgetting to turn Traction Control off. But it's often important to do so.

With Traction Control disabled, the wheels keep spinning as long as YOU tell them to.

Sometimes that's enough to get you up a hill even though you only have "a fraction of the traction."

I hope this helps!

I always wonder what cable or wire to use to pull a vehicle. If you don’t mind, could you share the details so I can look it up on Amazon to buy and keep in my R1S

Well, this might be hard to top as your best use of the T for 2025. But, still awesome.

Did that once in my much beloved and very snow worthy 2002 XTerra. That was a splendid example of pilot error on my part. Garrison Keillor said that 4 wheel drive means you can get stuck farther into the woods. 🙂

Buy a kinetic rope sized for your vehicle with the proper working load limit.
yankum is a solid brand and a bit more expensive.
Billet4x4 is similar quality and a bit cheaper (we bought the 1-1/8” x 30’).
factor 55 also makes high quality products that are priced accordingly.

Would need to buy some soft shackles to attach the rope, and each brand sells those (at least 7/16”).
Would also recommend a soft shackle hitch receiver as it allows center attachment to maintain axial loading of the vehicle.
Definitely buy USA made recovery products.
Not cheap, but worthwhile investments in recovery gear. 👍

You can also buy a 3"x30' recovery strap with loops. Not as much stretch as a kinetic rope but takes less space. Longer is good. You'll also need soft shackles.
