Rivian reputation, what do non-Rivian drivers think about Rivians?

Returning to OP's topic:

Last weekend it got warm enough (high 40s F) for a school fundraising car wash. These kids are tough! These were 8th to 10th graders. I didn't recognize any of them and I don't think they recognized me. The teacher isn't a Rivian owner.

After I pulled up, there was this spontaneous exchange -- without input from me:

STUDENT: "Is that a Tesla?"

TEACHER: "No, it's better."

STUDENT: "You mean it's like a Cybertruck if it was good?"

Without encouraging this talk at all, I hear spontaneous disparagement of the Cybertruck at least a few dozen times a year in western Washington and Oregon.

I'd rather be selling Rivians than Cybertrucks....

Sure, if you want to change the context, of course. "Traffic violations" is a different thing.

How is it changing the context? You said speeding wasn't a crime, but I demonstrated a circumstance where speeding is a criminal offense. You were wrong; own it.

I think not having an issue with Musk after his recent behavior is the derangement syndrome.

I notice some reactions occasionally. I am the only one driving a Rivian in my own and immediate neighborhood. So I am careful at how I drive to give people good vibes when they see a Rivian coming.

I converted from a model 3 P convert to a R1T. I have had nothing but positive feedback on the looks. Questions from Tesla drivers at Superchargers on the comparisons to a Tesla. It is, in my 36 years of marriage, the only vehicle I’ve owed that my wife really likes. Even my bro in law, “ Chevy truck till I die” grudgingly admits it’s cool. I’ve been pleasantly surprised
